Sfi System -- Check Mode Procedure


HINT:
Intelligent tester only:
Compared to normal mode, check mode has a better ability to detect malfunctions. Furthermore, the same diagnostic items which are detected in normal mode can also be detected in check mode.

CHECK MODE PROCEDURE
Toyota Fortuner. Ggn50, 60 Kun51, 61 Tgn51 Lan50.1Gr-Fe Engine Control System.Sfi System.Sfi System  Check Mode Procedure
  1. Make sure that the following conditions are met.

    1. Battery voltage 11 V or more.

    2. Throttle valve fully closed.

    3. Shift lever on P or N.

    4. A/C switch OFF.

  2. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

  3. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

  4. Turn the ignition switch ON and turn the tester ON.

  5. Enter the following menus items: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Utility / Check Mode.

  7. Make sure the MIL flashes as shown in the illustration.

    NOTICE:
    All the recorded DTCs and freeze frame data will be erased if: 1) the intelligent tester is used to change the ECM from normal mode to check mode or vice versa; or 2) during check mode, the ignition switch is turned from ON to ACC or OFF.
  8. Start the engine (the MIL should turn OFF).

  9. Simulate the conditions of the malfunction described by the customer.

  10. After simulating the malfunction condition, check the DTCs, freeze frame data and other data.

  11. After checking the DTCs, inspect the applicable circuits.
