Inspection procedure

HINT:

Read freeze frame data using the intelligent tester. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air-fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

1.PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING INTELLIGENT TESTER (OPERATE VSV FOR ACIS)

Diagnostic trouble code P0660 3UR-FE Land Cruiser Disconnect the vacuum hose.

  1. Disconnect the vacuum hose.

  1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

  1. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the tester on.

  1. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test / Active the VSV for Intake Control. Operate the VSV for ACIS.

  1. Check the VSV operation when it is operated using the tester.

    Standard:

    Tester Operation Specified Condition
VSV ON Air from port E flows out through port F
VSV OFF Air from port E flows out through air filter
  NG
Go to step 4

OK

2.CHECK VACUUM HOSE
  1. Check that the vacuum hose is connected correctly, and that there are no cracks, holes, damage, or looseness.

    OK:

    Vacuum hose is normal.

  NG
REPAIR OR REPLACE VACUUM HOSE

OK

3.INSPECT INTAKE MANIFOLD (INTAKE AIR CONTROL VALVE)
  1. Inspect the intake air control valve .

  NG
REPLACE INTAKE MANIFOLD (INTAKE AIR CONTROL VALVE)

OK

PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE

4.INSPECT VSV FOR ACIS (OPERATION)
  1. Inspect the VSV for ACIS .

  NG
REPLACE VSV FOR ACIS

OK

5.CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (VSV FOR ACIS - ECM, VSV FOR ACIS - EFI NO. 2 FUSE)

Diagnostic trouble code P0660 3UR-FE Land Cruiser Check the wire harness and connectors between the VSV for ACIS and ECM.

  1. Check the wire harness and connectors between the VSV for ACIS and ECM.

    1. Disconnect the VSV for ACIS connector.

    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance:

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C129-2 - C45-62 (ACIS) Always Below 1 ?
      C129-2 or C45-62 (ACIS) - Body ground Always 10 k? or higher
  1. Check the wire harness between the VSV for ACIS and EFI NO. 2 fuse.

    1. Disconnect the VSV for ACIS connector.

    2. Remove the EFI NO. 2 fuse from the engine room relay block.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance:

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C129-1 - EFI NO. 2 fuse Always Below 1 ?
  NG
REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

OK

REPLACE ECM
