Washer Motor Removal

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

  2. REMOVE RADIATOR SUPPORT OPENING COVER

  3. REMOVE CENTER HOOD CUSHION

  4. REMOVE RADIATOR GRILLE PROTECTOR

  5. REMOVE FRONT FENDER FRONT SPLASH SHIELD LH

  6. REMOVE FRONT FENDER FRONT SPLASH SHIELD RH

  7. REMOVE FRONT FENDER LINER LH

  8. REMOVE FRONT FENDER LINER RH

  9. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER COVER

  10. REMOVE WASHER INLET SUB-ASSEMBLY

  11. DRAIN WASHER FLUID

  12. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WASHER JAR ASSEMBLY (w/o Headlight Cleaner System)

  13. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WASHER JAR ASSEMBLY (w/ Headlight Cleaner System)

  14. REMOVE HEADLIGHT CLEANER MOTOR AND PUMP ASSEMBLY (w/ Headlight Cleaner System)

  15. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WASHER MOTOR AND PUMP ASSEMBLY

  16. REMOVE REAR WASHER MOTOR AND PUMP ASSEMBLY

Washer Motor -- Removal



1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
NOTICE:
w/ Navigation System (for HDD):
After the ignition switch is turned off, the HDD navigation system requires approximately a minute to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the ignition switch off, wait a minute or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.


2. REMOVE RADIATOR SUPPORT OPENING COVER

  1. Remove the 9 clips and radiator support opening cover.



3. REMOVE CENTER HOOD CUSHION

  1. Using a clip remover, remove the center hood cushion.



4. REMOVE RADIATOR GRILLE PROTECTOR

  1. Remove the 2 radiator grille protectors.



5. REMOVE FRONT FENDER FRONT SPLASH SHIELD LH

  1. Remove the screw, bolt, nut and splash shield.



6. REMOVE FRONT FENDER FRONT SPLASH SHIELD RH
HINT:
Use the same procedure described for the LH side.


7. REMOVE FRONT FENDER LINER LH

  1. Using a screwdriver, remove the clip and fender liner retainer.

  1. Remove the screw, nut and bolt.

  1. Partially remove the fender liner.

    HINT:
    It is not necessary to fully remove the fender liner. Partially remove it so that the bumper cover can be removed later.


8. REMOVE FRONT FENDER LINER RH
HINT:
Use the same procedures described for the LH side.


9. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER COVER

  1. w/o Under Guard:
    Remove the front bumper cover (RAV4_ACA30 RM0000015RJ00HX_01_0003.html).

  1. w/ Under Guard:
    Remove the front bumper cover (RAV4_ACA30 RM000003PKF001X_01_0006.html).

  1. w/ Hood Moulding:
    Remove the front bumper cover (RAV4_ACA30 RM000003PKF007X.html).



10. REMOVE WASHER INLET SUB-ASSEMBLY

  1. Remove the clip.

  1. Pull the washer inlet of the washer jar upward to remove it from the windshield washer jar.



11. DRAIN WASHER FLUID

  1. Remove a washer hose from either of the washer motor and pumps, and drain the washer fluid.



12. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WASHER JAR ASSEMBLY (w/o Headlight Cleaner System)

  1. for Large:
    Detach the 3 clamps.

  1. for Small:
    Detach the 2 clamps.



  1. Disconnect the 2 connectors.

  1. Remove the 2 washer hoses from the washer motor and pumps.

  1. Remove the 3 screws. Then remove the washer jar.



13. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WASHER JAR ASSEMBLY (w/ Headlight Cleaner System)

  1. Detach the 4 clamps.

  1. Disconnect the 4 connectors.

  1. Remove the 3 washer hoses from the washer motor and pumps.

  1. Remove the 3 screws. Then remove the washer jar.



14. REMOVE HEADLIGHT CLEANER MOTOR AND PUMP ASSEMBLY (w/ Headlight Cleaner System)

  1. Pull out the headlight cleaner motor and pump from the packing of the washer jar.



15. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WASHER MOTOR AND PUMP ASSEMBLY

  1. Remove the washer motor and pump from the packing of the washer jar.



16. REMOVE REAR WASHER MOTOR AND PUMP ASSEMBLY

  1. Remove the washer motor and pump from the packing of the washer jar.
