On-vehicle inspection

1. Check for the throttle control motor operating sounds.  

   1. Turn the ignition switch on (IG).

   2. When pressing the accelerator pedal, check for the operating sound of the motor. Make sure that no friction noises emit from the motor. If friction noise exists, replace the throttle body.

2. Check the throttle position sensor.  

    

   

   1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

   2. Turn the ignition switch on (IG).

   3. Turn the intelligent tester main switch ON.

   4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / Throttle Position.

   5. When the throttle valve is fully opened, check that the value of the "Throttle Position" is within the specification.

      Standard throttle valve opening percentage:

      60% or more

      CAUTION:

      When checking the standard throttle valve opening percentage, the shift lever should be in the N position.

      If the percentage is less than 60%, replace the throttle body.

Removal

CAUTION:

Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

1. Detach the 4 clips and remove the engine cover.

1. Remove the 4 bolts, 12 clips and engine under cover.

1. Loosen the 2 hose clamps.

2. Disconnect the No. 3 air hose from the No. 2 air tube and throttle body.

1. Disconnect the throttle position sensor connector.

2. Disconnect the throttle motor connector.

3. Remove the 2 nuts and 2 bolts, and then remove the diesel throttle body and gasket.

Inspection

1. Inspect the throttle control motor.  

1. Measure the resistance between the terminals.

Standard resistance:

Tester Connection	Specified Condition
1 (DUTY) - Throttle body case	2 to 10 k?

Installation

1. Install a new gasket and the diesel throttle body with the 2 nuts and 2 bolts.

   Torque: 

   21 N*m{ 214 kgf*cm , 15 ft.*lbf }

2. Connect the throttle position sensor connector.

3. Connect the throttle motor connector.

2. INSTALL NO. 3 AIR HOSE

1. Install the No. 3 air hose to the No. 2 air tube and throttle body.

2. Tighten the 2 hose clamps.

   Torque: 

   6.3 N*m{ 64 kgf*cm , 56 фунт-сила-дюймов }

1. Install the engine under cover with the 12 clips and 4 bolts.

1. Attach the 4 clips to install the engine cover.
