Install a new oil pump cover O-ring to the oil pump cover.

Install a new O-ring to the oil pump relief valve seat.

Coat the relief valve with engine oil.

Using a screwdriver, pry out the oil pump cover oil seal.

Remove the transfer assembly ().

Apply a light coat of gear oil to the No. 2 transmission hub sleeve and No. 2 transmission clutch hub.

Using a dial indicator and 2 V-blocks, measure the shaft runout.

• Maximum Runout:
• 0.03 mm (0.00118 in.)

If the runout is more than the maximum, replace the output shaft.

Using a feeler gauge, measure the 3rd gear thrust clearance.

• Standard Clearance:
• 0.10 to 0.45 mm (0.00394 to 0.0177 in.)

If the clearance is outside the specification, replace the defective gear, spacer or shaft.
