Description

The skid control ECU receives signals from the G sensor. If the sensor functions abnormally, the ABS warning light turns on.

DTC Code DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area
C1243/43 The following condition repeats 16 times.
  1. GL1 and GL2 do not change when the vehicle decelerates from 30 km/h (19 mph) to 0 km/h (0 mph).
  1. G sensor
  2. Harness or connector
  3. CAN communication system
C1244/44 When either of the following conditions is detected: 1. Both of the following conditions continue for at least 60 seconds.
  1. The vehicle is stopped.
  2. The difference between GL1 and GL2 does not drop to less than 0.4 G after it reaches 0.6 G or more.
2. A data malfunction signal is received from the G sensor.
  1. G sensor
  2. Harness or connector
  3. CAN communication system
C1245/45 The following condition continues for at least 60 seconds.
  1. The difference between the values calculated from the G sensor value and vehicle speed exceeds 0.35 G.
  1. G sensor
  2. Harness or connector
  3. CAN communication system
C1381/97 A G sensor power source malfunction signal is received for at least 10 seconds at a speed of more than 3 km/h (2 mph).
  1. G sensor
  2. Harness or connector
  3. CAN communication system

Inspection procedure

NOTICE:

When replacing the G sensor, perform zero point calibration .

1.CHECK G SENSOR INSTALLATION
  1. Check that the G sensor is installed properly.

    Result:

    Result Proceed to
The sensor is tightened to the specified torque. The sensor is not tilted. A
The sensor is not tightened to the specified torque. Or the sensor is tilted. for Automatic Transmission B

2.READ VALUE USING INTELLIGENT TESTER (DECELERATION SENSOR)
  1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the intelligent tester on.

  1. Enter the following menus: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRC / Data List.

ABS/VSC/TRC
Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
Deceleration Sensor G sensor reading / min.: -18.525 m/s2, max.: 18.387 m/s2 Approximately -1.28 to 1.27 m/s2while stationary The reading changes when the vehicle is bounced.
  1. Check the Data List for proper functioning of the G sensor.

    OK:

    Deceleration value changes.

Go to step 4

OK

3.CHECK DTC
  1. Install the G sensor to the vehicle.

  1. Clear the DTCs .

  1. Drive the vehicle at 6 km/h (4 mph) or more.

  1. Check if the same DTCs are output .

4.INSPECT G SENSOR

Diagnostic trouble code C1243 C1244 C1245 C1381 Land Cruiser. Remove the G sensor

  1. Remove the G sensor .

  1. Connect 3 dry cell batteries of 1.5 V in series.

    NOTICE:

Do not apply 6 V or more to terminals 3 (VGS) and 2 (GGND).

  1. Check the output voltage of terminal 1 (GL1) when the sensor is tilted forward and rearward.

    Standard Voltage:

    Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
    1 (GL1) - Battery negative (-) lead Horizontal Approximately 2.5 V
    1 (GL1) - Battery negative (-) lead Tilted forward Approximately 0.5 to 2.5 V
    1 (GL1) - Battery negative (-) lead Tilted rearward Approximately 2.5 to 4.5 V

    HINT:

    1. If the sensor is tilted too much, it may output the wrong value.
    2. If the voltage drops, the sensor should be replaced with a new one.
    3. When replacing the sensor, it should not be placed upside down.
  NG
REPLACE DECELERATION SENSOR

OK

5.CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - G SENSOR)

Diagnostic trouble code C1243 C1244 C1245 C1381 Land Cruiser. Disconnect the A24 skid control ECU connector.

  1. Disconnect the A24 skid control ECU connector.

  1. Disconnect the E88 G sensor connector.

  1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard Resistance:

    Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
    A24-39 (GL1) - E88-1 (GL1) Always Below 1 ?
    A24-23 (GGND) - E88-2 (GGND) Always Below 1 ?
