Removal

CAUTION:

Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

 

1. Detach the 4 clips and remove the engine cover.

 

1. Remove the 2 bolts.

 

2. Remove the 2 nuts, EGR pipe and 2 gaskets.

1. Disconnect the EGR valve connector.

 

2. Disconnect the EGR valve connector.

 

3. Remove the 2 bolts, EGR valve and gasket.

Inspection

 

1. Measure the resistance of the valve.

   Standard resistance:

   Tester Connection	Condition	Specified Condition
   1 (+B) - 5 (EGRS)	20°C (68°F)	6.5 to 7.5 ?
   3 (VC) - 2 (E2)	Always	3.5 to 6.5 k?

   HINT:

   The temperature indicated under "Condition" is the temperature of the EGR valve assembly.

   If the result is not as specified, replace the valve.

Installation

 

1. Install a new gasket and the EGR valve with the 2 bolts.

   Torque: 

   24 N*m{ 245 kgf*cm , 18 ft.*lbf }

2. Connect the EGR valve connector.

 

1. Temporarily install 2 new gaskets and the EGR pipe with the nut and bolt.

 

2. Temporarily install the bolt and nut.

 

3. Tighten the 2 bolts holding the EGR pipe to the cylinder head.

   Torque: 

   24 N*m{ 245 kgf*cm , 18 ft.*lbf }

 

4. Tighten the 2 nuts holding the EGR pipe to the EGR valve.

   Torque: 

   24 N*m{ 245 kgf*cm , 18 ft.*lbf }

1. Attach the 4 clips to install the engine cover.
