DESCRIPTION
The brake pedal load sensing switch operates when the brake pedal is depressed with force exceeding a predetermined level.The skid control ECU detects if the brake pedal is depressed or not via this circuit.DTC Code

| Either of the following is detected:
- With the stop light switch on, the brake pedal load sensing switch off and the master cylinder pressure 6 MPa or more, the deceleration is 0.4 G or more for 1 second or more.
- With the stop light switch on, the brake pedal load sensing switch off and the master cylinder pressure 6 MPa or more, the vehicle speed is 0 km/h (0 mph) for 5 seconds or more.

| Either of the following is detected:
- Immediately after the ignition switch is turned to ON, the brake pedal load sensing switch is on and the stop light switch is off for 10 seconds or more.
- The condition that the brake pedal load sensing switch remains on while the vehicle speed increases from 0 km/h (0 mph) to 30 km/h (18 mph) occurs 5 times in succession.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
- NOTICE:
- When replacing the brake actuator assembly, perform zero point calibration (RAV4_ACA30 RM000001K1O00SX.html).
- HINT:
- When C1425 is output together with C1430 and/or C1431, inspect and repair the trouble areas indicated by C1425 first (RAV4_ACA30 RM000000XIE04TX.html).
1.READ VALUE USING INTELLIGENT TESTER (STOP LIGHT SWITCH/BRAKE PEDAL LOAD SENSING SWITCH) |
Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Select the Data List mode on the intelligent tester (RAV4_ACA30 RM000000ONK01EX.html).

Check that the stop light switch display and brake pedal load sensing switch display observed on the intelligent tester change according to brake pedal operation.
- OK:
- The intelligent tester displays ON or OFF according to brake pedal operation.
Slowly depress the brake pedal, and check when the stop light switch and brake pedal load sensing switch turn ON.
- OK:
- First the stop light switch should turn ON, and then the brake pedal load sensing switch should turn ON.

3.INSPECT BRAKE PEDAL LOAD SENSING SWITCH |
- NOTICE:
- Do not remove the brake pedal load sensing switch from the brake pedal support assembly.
- When there is a malfunction in the brake pedal load sensing switch, replace the brake pedal support assembly.
Turn the ignition switch off.
Make sure that there is no looseness in the locking part and connecting part of the connector.
Disconnect the brake pedal load sensing switch connector.
Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

4.CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - BRAKE PEDAL LOAD SENSING SWITCH) |
Make sure that there is no looseness in the locking part and connecting part of the connector.
Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Turn the ignition switch off.
Check the brake pedal height and stop light switch installation (RAV4_ACA30 RM000001HJ300JX.html).

- The brake pedal height and stop light switch installation are normal.
