Steering Angle Sensor Installation
INSTALL SPIRAL CABLE WITH STEERING ANGLE SENSOR
INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER
ADJUST SPIRAL CABLE
INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY
CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CHECK SRS WARNING LIGHT
Steering Angle Sensor -- Installation |
1. INSTALL SPIRAL CABLE WITH STEERING ANGLE SENSOR |
(LandCruiser RM000002O8U02GX_01_0001.html)- NOTICE:
- Do not replace the spiral cable with the battery connected and the ignition switch ON.
- Do not rotate the spiral cable with the battery connected and the ignition switch ON.
- Make sure that the steering wheel is installed and aligned straight when inspecting the steering angle sensor.
- Do not remove the steering angle sensor from the spiral cable.
2. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER |
for Manual Tilt and Manual Telescopic Steering Column:

Check the check window shown in the illustration.
- HINT:
- When the spiral cable sub-assembly is centered, the connector is at the top and the conditions below can be checked.
- w/o Steering Heater:
With the steering wheel straight ahead, align the matchmarks to check the colored roller from the check window.
- w/ Steering Heater:
With the steering wheel straight ahead, align the matchmarks to check the U-turn point of the cable from the check window.

If the spiral cable sub-assembly is not centered, center it.
Rotate the spiral cable sub-assembly counterclockwise slowly by hand until it stops.
- CAUTION:
- Do not turn the spiral cable sub-assembly using the airbag wire harness.
Rotate the spiral cable sub-assembly 2.5 times clockwise from the lock position to align the matchmarks and check the check window.
- HINT:
- The spiral cable sub-assembly will rotate approximately 2.5 turns to both the left and right from the center.
- When the spiral cable sub-assembly is centered, the connector is at the top and the conditions below can be checked.
- w/o Steering Heater:
With the steering wheel straight ahead, align the matchmarks to check the colored roller from the check window.
- w/ Steering Heater:
With the steering wheel straight ahead, align the matchmarks to check the U-turn point of the cable from the check window.

If the spiral cable sub-assembly cannot be centered, it is possible that the spiral cable sub-assembly is broken. Replace the spiral cable sub-assembly with a new one.
4. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY |

5. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL |
- NOTICE:
- When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (LandCruiser RM000003YMF011X.html).
