READ VALUE USING DATA LIST (PASSENGER SIDE BUCKLE SWITCH)

READ VALUE USING DATA LIST (SEAT BELT TENSION SENSOR)

CHECK CONNECTORS

REPLACE FRONT SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY

PERFORM ZERO POINT CALIBRATION

PERFORM SENSITIVITY CHECK

OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM - Trouble in Passenger Airbag ON/OFF Indicator


DESCRIPTION

The occupant classification system detects the front passenger seat condition. It then informs a passenger of the front passenger airbag assembly and front seat side airbag assembly condition (activated/not activated) by the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator.

HINT:
Approximately 6 seconds after the ignition switch is turned to ON, the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator will be ON/OFF depending on the conditions listed below.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

HINT:
When the indicator is malfunctioning, if the SRS warning light is off, follow the procedures below as a DTC is not output. If the SRS warning light is on, a DTC is output. Troubleshoot the output DTC.
1.PERFORM ZERO POINT CALIBRATION
  1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

  1. Using the Techstream, perform the zero point calibration (COROLLA_ZRE142 RM0000010VN07SX.html).

  1. Turn the ignition switch off.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

  1. Clear the DTCs stored in the occupant classification ECU (COROLLA_ZRE142 RM0000010VK07TX.html).

    HINT:
    If the DTCs are not cleared at this time, past DTCs will remain.

2.CHECK FOR DTC
  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

  1. Clear the DTCs stored in the occupant classification ECU (COROLLA_ZRE142 RM0000010VK07TX.html).

  1. Clear the DTCs stored in the center airbag sensor assembly (COROLLA_ZRE142 RM000000XFE0H1X.html).

  1. Turn the ignition switch off.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

  1. Check for DTCs of the occupant classification ECU (COROLLA_ZRE142 RM0000010VK07TX.html).

    OK:
    DTC B1797 is not output.
    HINT:
    Codes other than DTC B1797 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

GO TO DTC B1797 (COROLLA_ZRE142 RM000001PK802UX.html)

3.CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR (PERFORM SENSITIVITY CHECK)
  1. Perform the sensitivity check (COROLLA_ZRE142 RM0000010VN07SX.html).

4.READ VALUE USING DATA LIST (PASSENGER SIDE BUCKLE SWITCH)
  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

  1. Using the Techstream, read the Data List (COROLLA_ZRE142 RM0000010VM07SX.html).

    1. Read the display when the passenger side buckle switch is operated.

  1. Fasten the passenger side seat belt.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

  1. Using the Techstream, read the value of the Data List (COROLLA_ZRE142 RM0000010VM07SX.html).

6.CHECK CONNECTORS
  1. Disconnect the connectors from the occupant classification ECU and the occupant classification sensor.

  1. Check that the terminals of the connectors are not damaged.

    OK:
    The terminals are not deformed or damaged.

7.REPLACE FRONT SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY
  1. Turn the ignition switch off.

  1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

  1. Replace the front seat cushion assembly (with occupant classification ECU and occupant classification sensor) (COROLLA_ZRE142 RM000001Q5I017X.html).

  1. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

  1. Clear the DTCs stored in the occupant classification ECU (COROLLA_ZRE142 RM0000010VK07TX.html).

  1. Clear the DTCs stored in the center airbag sensor assembly (COROLLA_ZRE142 RM000000XFE0H1X.html).

  1. Turn the ignition switch off.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

  1. Check for DTCs (COROLLA_ZRE142 RM0000010VK07TX.html).

    OK:
    DTC is not output.

  1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
