Exhaust Manifold Converter Removal
DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
REMOVE ENGINE ASSEMBLY
REMOVE NO. 1 MANIFOLD CONVERTER INSULATOR
REMOVE NO. 2 MANIFOLD CONVERTER INSULATOR
REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD CONVERTER SUB-ASSEMBLY
REMOVE NO. 1 VACUUM TRANSMITTING HOSE ASSEMBLY
REMOVE NO. 2 VACUUM TRANSMITTING HOSE ASSEMBLY
REMOVE EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURE SENSOR (for Upper Side)
REMOVE EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURE SENSOR (for Lower Side)
REMOVE NO. 1 VACUUM PIPE
REMOVE NO. 2 VACUUM PIPE
Exhaust Manifold Converter -- Removal |
| 1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL |
- ПРЕДОСТЕРЕЖЕНИЕ:
- Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
| 2. REMOVE ENGINE ASSEMBLY |
Remove the engine assembly from the vehicle (see page RAV4_ACA30 RM0000019Y9008X.html).
| 3. REMOVE NO. 1 MANIFOLD CONVERTER INSULATOR |
Remove the 5 bolts and manifold converter insulator.
| 4. REMOVE NO. 2 MANIFOLD CONVERTER INSULATOR |
Remove the 3 bolts and manifold converter insulator.
| 5. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD CONVERTER SUB-ASSEMBLY |
Disconnect the 2 exhaust gas temperature sensor connectors.
Remove the bolt, nut and No. 1 manifold stay.
Remove the 3 bolts and No. 2 manifold stay.
Remove the 2 bolts, nut and No. 2 exhaust manifold stay.
Remove the 3 nuts, manifold converter and gasket.
| 6. REMOVE NO. 1 VACUUM TRANSMITTING HOSE ASSEMBLY |
Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip to remove the vacuum transmitting hose.
| 7. REMOVE NO. 2 VACUUM TRANSMITTING HOSE ASSEMBLY |
Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip to remove the vacuum transmitting hose.
| 8. REMOVE EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURE SENSOR (for Upper Side) |
Using SST, loosen the union nut and remove the sensor from the manifold converter.

| 9. REMOVE EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURE SENSOR (for Lower Side) |
Using SST, loosen the union nut and disconnect the sensor nut from the manifold converter.

Remove the 2 nuts and sensor.
| 10. REMOVE NO. 1 VACUUM PIPE |
Using SST, loosen the union nut and disconnect the vacuum pipe nut from the manifold converter.

Remove the bolt and vacuum pipe.
| 11. REMOVE NO. 2 VACUUM PIPE |
Using SST, loosen the union nut and disconnect the vacuum pipe from the manifold converter.

Remove the bolt and vacuum pipe.
