Emission Control System -- On-Vehicle Inspection


УКАЗАНИЕ:
In a malfunction that the EGR system is always operating, black or white smoke may be emitted from the exhaust pipe.


1. CHECK SEATING OF EGR VALVE
  1. Start the engine, then check that it starts and runs at idle.



2. CHECK HOT ENGINE CONDITION

  1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

  1. Start the engine, then run it at idle.

  1. Turn the intelligent tester on.

  1. Select "Powertrain / ENGINE / Active Test Control the EGR Position" in Data List.

  1. Warm up the engine.
    The coolant temperature should be between 75°C (167°F) and 90°C (194°F).

  1. Check the EGR position and measure the MAF reading.

    Standard value (EGR position 1 to 100%):

    Active test not performed
    2.8 to 5.4 g/sec.
    Standard value (EGR position 0%):
    Engine Condition
    EGR Position
    Active Test

    УКАЗАНИЕ:
    1. If the MAF reading is out of the standard range in either conditions "Active test performed" or "Active test not performed", replace the EGR valve.
    2. If the MAF reading is out of the standard range in both conditions "Active test performed" and "Active test not performed", check the intake air flow meter.
    If any detects are found, replace the intake air flow meter, and then check the operation of the EGR valve.


3. VISUALLY INSPECT HOSES, CONNECTORS AND GASKETS

  1. Check for cracks, leaks or damage.

    1. Check the engine assembly to see if the portions indicated by the arrows have cracks, leaks or damage.

      ПРИМЕЧАНИЕ:
      1. Detachment or other problems with the engine oil dipstick, filler cap, PCV hose and other components may cause the engine to run improperly.
      2. Air suction caused by disconnections, looseness or cracks in the parts of the air induction system between the throttle body and cylinder head will cause engine failure or engine malfunctions.
      If any defects are found, replace the parts as necessary.
