Inspect the shift lock operation.

1. Move the shift lever to the P position.
   

2. Turn the ignition switch off.
   

3. Check that the shift lever cannot be moved from the P position to any other position.
   

4. Turn the ignition switch on (IG), depress the brake pedal, and check that the shift lever can be moved to another position.
   If operation cannot be done as specified, inspect the shift lock control unit.
   

Inspect the shift lock release button operation.

1. When moving the shift lever with the shift lock release button pressed, check that the shift lever can be moved from the P position to any other position.
   

Check the key interlock operation. (w/o Entry and Start System)

1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
   

2. Depress the brake pedal and move the shift lever to any position other than the P position.
   

3. Check that the ignition key cannot be turned to the LOCK position.
   

4. Move the shift lever to the P position, turn the ignition key to the LOCK position and check that the ignition key can be removed.
   If operation cannot be done as specified, inspect the shift lock control unit.
