DTC P0101 Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Range / Performance Problem


DESCRIPTION

  1. Either of the following conditions is met:
  1. MAF meter output does not change to less than 1.6 V within approximately 10 seconds of ignition switch being turned from ON position to off (while EFI MAIN relay is ON)
    (Determination of a malfunction is conducted within a given time after the ignition switch is turned from the ON position to off. If a malfunction is detected within this time, the MIL is illuminated and a DTC is set when the ignition switch is next turned to the ON position)
  2. Actual value of MAF rate is implausible
    (The MIL is illuminated and a DTC is set when the same malfunction is detected on 2 consecutive trips*)
    *: One trip is counted when the ignition switch is turned from off to the ON position and back to off
  1. Open or short in mass air flow meter circuit
  2. Mass air flow meter
  3. Contamination in mass air flow meter
  4. EGR valve assembly
  5. Open or short in EGR circuit
  6. EGR passage
  7. Open or short in intake shutter control motor circuit
  8. Diesel throttle body assembly (intake shutter)
  9. Vacuum hose
  10. ECM
УКАЗАНИЕ:
This DTC is set in either of the following conditions:
  1. When the ignition switch is turned from off to the ON position.
  2. When the vehicle decelerates while driving.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

УКАЗАНИЕ:
Read freeze frame data using an intelligent tester. The ECM records vehicle and driving condition information as freeze frame data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can be helpful in determining whether the vehicle was running or stopped, whether the engine was warmed up or not, whether the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, as well as other data recorded at the time of a malfunction.
1.CHECK ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P0101)
  1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

  1. Turn the tester on.

  1. Enter the following menu items: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / DTC.

  1. Read the DTCs.

    Result:
    Result
    Proceed to
    DTC P0101 is output
    A
    DTC P0101 and other DTCs are output
    B

    If any DTCs other than P0101 are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first.

2.CHECK CONNECTION OF VACUUM HOSES
УКАЗАНИЕ:
  1. Check the vacuum hose connection of the manifold absolute pressure sensor.
  2. Check that there is no air leak of the manifold absolute pressure sensor vacuum hose.
    OK:
    The vacuum hoses are appropriately connected to each other.

3.READ VALUE USING INTELLIGENT TESTER (MASS AIR FLOW METER)
ПРИМЕЧАНИЕ:
  1. Perform the inspection with the vehicle indoors and on a level surface.
  2. Perform the inspection of the mass air flow meter while it is installed to the air cleaner case (installed to the vehicle).
  3. During the test, do not use the exhaust air duct to perform suction on the exhaust pipe.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

    ПРИМЕЧАНИЕ:
    Do not run the engine.
  1. Turn the tester on.

  1. Enter the following menu items: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / MAF.

  1. Wait 30 seconds, and read the values on the tester.

    Standard:
    Less than 0.23 g/sec.
