DESCRIPTION

While the vehicle is driven with the shift lever in the E position, the most appropriate gear is automatically selected according to the accelerator pedal opening angle and vehicle speed. During this time, shift control can be switched between normal mode (E) and sports mode (Es) by pressing the pattern select switch.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

1.INSPECT PATTERN SELECT SWITCH ASSEMBLY

  1. Remove the pattern select switch.

  1. Check the resistance of the pattern select switch terminals.

    Standard resistance (Hatchback):
    Tester Connection
    		Switch Condition
    		Specified Condition
    1 - 4
    		Press continuously Pattern select switch
    		Below 1 Ω
    1 - 4
    		Release Pattern select switch
    		10 kΩ or higher
    Standard resistance (Sedan):
    Tester Connection
    		Switch Condition
    		Specified Condition
    3 - 4
    		Press continuously Pattern select switch
    		Below 1 Ω
    3 - 4
    		Release Pattern select switch
    		10 kΩ or higher

  1. Reinstall the pattern select switch.

2.CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TCM - BODY GROUND)

  1. Disconnect the TCM connector.

  1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard resistance:
    Tester Connection
    		Switch Condition
    		Specified Condition
    E33-23 (ESSW) - Body ground
    		Press continuously Pattern select switch
    		Below 1 Ω
    E33-23 (ESSW) - Body ground
    		Release Pattern select switch
    		10 kΩ or higher

  1. Reconnect the TCM connector.

REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

3.INSPECT TCM (PWR TERMINAL VOLTAGE)

  1. Turn the ignition switch on (IG).

  1. Measure the voltage between the terminal of the TCM connector and the body ground when the pattern select switch is ON and OFF.

    Standard voltage:
    Tester Connection
    		Switch Condition
    		Specified Condition
    E33-23 (ESSW) - Body ground
    		Press continuously Pattern select switch
    		Below 1 V
    E33-23 (ESSW) - Body ground
    		Release Pattern select switch
    		11 to 14 V
