УКАЗАНИЕ:
A malfunction causing constant operation of the EGR system may cause black or white smoke to be emitted from the exhaust pipe.


1. INSPECT SEATING OF EGR VALVE

  1. Start the engine and check that it starts and idles.



2. INSPECT EGR SYSTEM

  1. Warm up engine.

  1. Turn the ignition switch off.

  1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

  1. Check EGR valve operation (Full Close).

    1. Remove No. 1 engine cover.

    2. Disconnect the EGR valve connector.

    3. Start the engine and let it idle.

    4. Turn the intelligent tester on.

    5. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / MAF.

    6. Check the MAF reading with the engine idling.

      Standard:
      MAF reading is between 7.5 g/sec. and 9.5 g/sec.

    7. Stop the engine by turning the ignition switch off, then connect the EGR valve connector.

    8. Clear the DTC(s).

  1. Check EGR valve operation (Full Open).

    1. Start the engine and let it idle.

    2. Turn the intelligent tester on.

    3. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / MAF and EGR Step POS.

    4. Warm up the engine. The coolant temperature should be between 75°C (167°F) and 90°C (194°F).

    5. Check the MAF reading when EGR Step POS is step 125.

      Standard:
      MAF reading is between 4.0 g/sec. and 5.0 g/sec.
      If the MAF reading is out of range in either step (d) - (5) or (e) - (5), replace the EGR valve.
      If the MAF reading is out of range in both steps (d) - (5) and (e) - (5), check the air flow meter.

  1. Stop the engine by turning the ignition switch off.

  1. Disconnect the intelligent tester from the DLC3.
