1.MAINTENANCE PRECAUTION

  1. Do not stop the engine immediately after pulling a trailer, driving at a high speed, or driving uphill. Let the engine idle for 20 to 120 seconds before turning the ignition switch off (According to the driving condition, the idling time varies).

  2. Avoid quick acceleration or quickly accelerating the engine RPM immediately after starting a cold engine.

  3. If the turbocharger is found to be defective, it must be replaced. Also, inspect for conditions that caused the turbocharger to become defective. Repair or replace the following as necessary:

    1. Engine oil (Level and quality)

    2. Oil lines leading to the turbocharger

    3. Intake air and exhaust systems for leakage.

    4. Check turbocharging pressure (See page Нажмите здесь).

    5. Check turbocharger sub-assembly (See page Нажмите здесь).

    6. Inspect actuator and nozzle vane operation (See page Нажмите здесь).

  4. Pay due attention when removing and reinstalling the turbocharger assembly. Do not drop, give shock to, or grasp easily-deformed assembly parts such as the actuator or push rod.

  5. Before removal, cover both the intake and exhaust ports and the oil inlet to prevent the entry of dirt or foreign objects.

  6. If replacing the turbocharger, check for deposits in the oil pipe. If necessary, replace the oil pipe too.

  7. Thoroughly remove the old gasket sticking to the lubrication oil pipe flange and the turbocharger oil pipe flange.

  8. If replacing the bolt(s) or nut(s), use Toyota genuine parts to prevent breakage or deformation.

  9. If replacing the turbocharger, put 20 cm3 (1.2 cu. in.) of fresh oil into the turbocharger oil inlet hole and turn the turbine wheel by hand to spread oil to the bearing.

  10. If overhauling or replacing the engine, disable the fuel supply after reassembly and crank the engine for 30 seconds to feed oil throughout the engine within 60 seconds prior to starting it.

  11. Since the turbine wheels run at an extremely high speed, running the engine without the air cleaner, case cover or hose in place may damage the turbine wheel due to the entry of foreign objects.
