The shift and select actuator is operated by the TCM and changes the transaxle gear by the shift and select lever shaft movement. An electric motor (shift motor) moves the shift and select lever shaft in the shift direction, and the shift stroke sensor, which is mounted on the shift and select actuator assembly, detects the shift position. The TCM monitors the electrical current and shift motor output terminal voltage, and detects malfunctions in the shift motor circuit.

The TCM detects the following conditions:
(1-trip detection logic)
  1. Shift motor is not energized
  2. Shift motor voltage is less than 0.5 V*1, or more than threshold*2 for 0.5 seconds
  3. +BM voltage is 10 V or more
  1. Shift and select actuator assembly (shift motor)
  2. Short in shift motor circuit
  3. TCM

The TCM detects the following conditions:
(1-trip detection logic)
  1. Shift motor is energized
  2. Target shift motor current is more than 5A
  3. Actual shift motor current is less than 1A*3
  1. Shift and select actuator assembly (shift motor)
  2. Open in shift motor circuit

The TCM detects the following conditions:
(1-trip detection logic)
  1. Shift motor is not energized
  2. Difference between maximum and minimum voltages of shift motor terminal (MSF+ or MSF-) is more than threshold*4 for 0.5 seconds
  3. +BM voltage is 10 V or more
  1. Shift and select actuator assembly (shift motor)
  2. Open in shift motor circuit
  3. TCM
  1. *1: A short between the shift motor circuit and the body ground is suspected.
  2. *2: A short between the shift motor circuit and the +B circuit is suspected.
  3. *3: An open in the shift motor circuit is suspected. When the motor current does not flow to the ECU terminals despite the ECU ordering the shift motor to operate, the ECU sets the DTC.
  4. *4: An open in the shift motor circuit is suspected. When the difference is more than the threshold despite the ECU not ordering the shift motor to operate, the ECU sets the DTC.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

In shift stroke sensor or shift and select actuator assembly replacement, perform the [Initialization and Learning] procedure (See page Нажмите здесь) and [Synchronization Position Calibration] procedure (See page Нажмите здесь) after installing the sensor or actuator assembly. If the sensor or actuator is installed without performing [Initialization and Learning] and [Synchronization Position Calibration], it may cause driving performance degradation or system component breakage.

  1. Disconnect the shift motor connector.

  1. Measure the shift motor resistance.

    Standard resistance:

  1. Reconnect the shift motor connector.

  1. Disconnect the shift motor connector.

  1. Disconnect the TCM connector.

  1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard resistance:
