DESCRIPTION

The shift lock solenoid is built into the shift lever assembly. When the ignition switch is turned off, or when the shift lever is in the N position without depressing the brake pedal although the ignition switch is turned on (IG), the shift lock solenoid restricts the shift lever movement.
The TCM sends the shift lock cancellation signal to the shift lock solenoid to cancel the shift lock when the multi-mode manual transaxle system conditions are satisfied.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

1.INSPECT SHIFT LOCK CONTROL UNIT ASSEMBLY (SHIFT LOCK SOLENOID)

  1. Disconnect the shift lock control unit connector.

  1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard resistance:
    Tester Connection
    		Condition
    		Specified Condition
    E31-2 (IG) - E31-6 (E)
    		20°C (68°F)
    		30 to 35 Ω

  1. Reconnect the shift lock control unit connector.

2.CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SHIFT LOCK SOLENOID - TCM, BODY GROUND)

  1. Disconnect the shift lock control unit connector.

  1. Disconnect the TCM connector.

  1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard resistance:
    Tester Connection
    		Condition
    		Specified Condition
    E33-5 (SLS) - E31-2 (IG)
    		Always
    		Below 1 Ω
    E31-6 (E) - Body ground
    		↑
    		Below 1 Ω
    E33-5 (SLS) - Body ground
    		↑
    		10 kΩ or higher

  1. Reconnect the TCM connector.

  1. Reconnect the shift lock control unit connector.

3.INSPECT TCM

  1. Turn the ignition switch on (IG).

  1. Measure the voltage between the terminal of the TCM and the body ground when the brake pedal is operated.

    Standard voltage:
    Tester Connection
    		Pedal Condition
    		Specified Condition
    E33-5 (SLS) - Body ground
    		Brake pedal depressed
    		11 to 14 V
    E33-5 (SLS) - Body ground
    		Brake pedal released
    		Below 1 V
