BACK DOOR LOCK - INSPECTION

1. INSPECT BACK DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY (w/o Power Back Door)

(Back Door Lock assembly)		--

Set the back door lock to the full-latch position.

Apply battery voltage to the door motor connector and check the operation of the door lock motor.

  • OK:
  • Measurement ConditionSpecified Condition
    Battery positive (+) → 2 (ACT+)
    Battery negative (-) → 1 (ACT-)    		Moves to open-latch position
If the result is not as specified, replace the back door lock assembly.

Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  • Standard Resistance:
  • Tester ConnectionConditionSpecified Condition
    1 (ACT-) - 3 (+)Open-latchBelow 1 Ω
    1 (ACT-) - 3 (+)Full-latch10 kΩ or higher
If the result is not as specified, replace the back door lock assembly.
2. INSPECT BACK DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY (w/ Power Back Door)

Inspect the closer motor operation.

Set the back door lock assembly to the full-latch position.

Apply battery voltage and check the operation of the door lock motor.

  • OK:
  • Measurement ConditionSpecified Condition
    Battery positive (+) → 1 (M+)
    Battery negative (-) → 2 (M-)    		Moves to open-latch position
If the result is not as specified, replace the back door lock assembly.

Set the back door lock assembly to the half-latch position.

Apply battery voltage and check the operation of the door lock motor.

  • OK:
  • Measurement ConditionSpecified Condition
    Battery positive (+) → 2 (M-)
    Battery negative (-) → 1 (M+)    		Moves to over-latch position
If the result is not as specified, replace the back door lock assembly.

If the result is not as specified, replace the back door lock assembly.

If the result is not as specified, replace the back door lock assembly.

    Open-latch    		Below 1 Ω
    Over-latch
    Full-latch    		10 kΩ or higher
If the result is not as specified, replace the back door lock assembly.
