Engine Front Oil Seal Removal

REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL
REMOVE NO. 1 INLET AIR CLEANER
REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE COVER
REMOVE V-RIBBED BELT
REMOVE RADIATOR ASSEMBLY
REMOVE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY
REMOVE TIMING CHAIN CASE OIL SEAL
Engine Front Oil Seal -- Removal |
1. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL |
Remove the 11 clips and intake duct seal.
2. REMOVE NO. 1 INLET AIR CLEANER |
Remove the bolt, clip and inlet air cleaner.
3. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE COVER |
Remove the No. 1 engine cover.
Release the belt tension by turning the belt tensioner counterclockwise, and remove the V-ribbed belt from the belt tensioner.
While turning the belt tensioner counterclockwise, align its holes, and then insert a 5 mm (0.20 in.) bar into the holes to hold the belt tensioner.
5. REMOVE RADIATOR ASSEMBLY |

6. REMOVE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY |
Remove the bolt while holding the crankshaft with SST.

Remove the crankshaft pulley with SST.

7. REMOVE TIMING CHAIN CASE OIL SEAL |
Using a knife, cut off the oil seal lip.
Using a screwdriver with the tip taped, pry out the oil seal.
- HINT:
- Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- NOTICE:
- After removing the oil seal, check the crankshaft for damage. If it is damaged, smooth the surface with 400-grit sandpaper.
