INSPECTION PROCEDURE

HINT:
  1. Check that the steering wheel is centered.
  2. After checking that no DTC is output for the VGRS system, perform the following procedure.
1.CHECK STEERING WHEEL POSITION
  1. Turn the steering wheel from lock to lock at a speed of approximately 90°/sec. Check if the steering wheel angles between left and right.

    OK:
    The steering wheel is centered.
    HINT:
    If turning the steering wheel quickly while driving at low speeds, the steering angle may differ between left and right, or the steering wheel may become off-center. However, this is not a malfunction.

VGRS SYSTEM IS NORMAL

2.CHECK STEERING EFFORT
  1. Start the engine.

  1. Turn the steering wheel.

  1. Check the steering effort.

    OK:
    Below 6.5 N*m (66 kgf*cm, 57 in.*lbf)
    HINT:
    After completing the inspection or repair, attempt to simulate the problem and then perform step 1 again to reconfirm that the problem does not occur.

GO TO POWER STEERING SYSTEM
OK


3.CHECK WHEEL ALIGNMENT
  1. Check wheel alignment (Click here for front, Click here for rear).

    OK:
    The wheel alignment is normal.
    HINT:
    Adjust the tie-rod ends within the specified values so that the tire angles are the same between left and right when the steering wheel is turned from lock to lock.
