IN CASE OF TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR VALVE SUB-ASSEMBLY AND/OR TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR ECU REPLACEMENT
PROCEDURE FOR DETERMINING THE INSTALLED WHEEL'S TRANSMITTER ID STATUS ("MAIN" OR "2nd")
Tire Pressure Warning System -- Registration |
1. IN CASE OF TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR ECU REPLACEMENT |
Read ID stored in the old ECU using the intelligent tester.
2. IN CASE OF TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR VALVE SUB-ASSEMBLY AND/OR TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR ECU REPLACEMENT |
Read ID written on the tire pressure monitor valve.
3. REGISTER TRANSMITTER ID |
- NOTICE:
- It is necessary to register the transmitter ID in the tire pressure monitor ECU when replacing the tire pressure monitor valve sub-assembly and/or tire pressure monitor ECU.
Set the tire pressure of 4 wheels to the specified value.
*: When at least 4 people are in the vehicle.Tire Size Specified Value 225/50R 17 94W 230kPa (2.3kgf/cm2, 33psi) P225/50R 17 93V 245/40R 18 93Y P245/40R 18 93V
Connect the intelligent tester to DLC3.
Turn the engine switch on (IG).
Read and write down the ID (ID1 to ID4) by using the DATA LIST.
![]() |
Select the REGIST TIRE following the intelligent tester screen. (UTILITY - REGIST TIRE)
Select the registration mode "MAIN".
- HINT:
- Select "2nd" when registering in 2nd.
Input the ID (ID1 to ID4) using the intelligent tester and transmit it to the tire pressure monitor ECU.
![]() |
Set the ID transmission condition to "ID Registration is complete".
- HINT:
- If the operations of steps (d) to (f) do not complete within 5 min., the mode will return to normal operation mode.

4. CONFIRMATION OF TRANSMITTER ID REGISTRATION |
Set the tire pressure of 4 wheels to the specified value.

Connect the intelligent tester to DLC3.
Turn the engine switch on (IG).
Select "SIGNAL CHECK" mode on the intelligent tester (Click here).
Perform forced transmission of the transmitter IDs for 4 wheels.
When rapidly reducing the pressure, remove the valve core (above 20 kPa/15 sec.).
- HINT:
- The transmitter ID can be transmitted by rapidly reducing the tire air pressure.
Perform the steps mentioned above to 4 tires.
- HINT:
- When rapidly reducing the pressure, remove the valve core (above 20 kPa/15 sec.).
Check that test mode DTCs C2181/81, C2182/82, C2183/83 and C2184/84 are all erased.
- HINT:
- The transmitter ID registration is completed when the test mode DTCs are erased.
- If they haven't been erased, reset the tire pressure to the specified value and rotate the tire 90 to 270 degrees. Then perform forced transmission of the transmitter IDs of 4 wheels. If they are still output, register the transmitter IDs.
Set the tire pressure of 4 wheels to the specified value.
5. PROCEDURE FOR DETERMINING THE INSTALLED WHEEL'S TRANSMITTER ID STATUS ("MAIN" OR "2nd") |
Turn the engine switch on (IG).
Set the tire select switch to the "MAIN" position.
Set the tire pressure of all wheels to the specified value.

Rapidly reduce the pressure of any wheel to 120 kPa (1.2 kgf/cm2, 17 psi).
Check the following items. If both of them are true, the transmitter ID of the currently installed wheel is registered in the "MAIN".
- Tire pressure warning light comes on.
- The tire pressure of any tire is 120 kPa (1.2 kgf/cm2, 17 psi) when measured with the intelligent tester.
- Tire pressure warning light comes on.
If either of the conditions is not true, switch the tire pressure warning switch to "2nd" and perform steps (c) to (e). If both are true, the transmitter ID of the currently installed wheel is registered in "2nd".
