  3. REMOVE LOWER NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER

  4. REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER

  5. REMOVE STEERING PAD (for Torx Type)

  6. REMOVE STEERING PAD (for Pin Type)

Steering Pad -- Removal


HINT:
  1. Use the same procedure for RHD and LHD vehicles.
  2. The procedure listed below is for LHD vehicles.


1. PRECAUTION
CAUTION:
Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing (Click here).
NOTICE:
After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (- ) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work (Click here).


2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (Click here).


3. REMOVE LOWER NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER


    Land Cruiser. Urj200, 202 Grj200 Vdj200
  1. Using a screwdriver, insert the screwdriver into the cutout of the lower No. 3 steering wheel cover and detach the claw and guide to remove the lower No. 3 steering wheel cover.

4. REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER

  1. Using a screwdriver, insert the screwdriver into the cutout of the lower No. 2 steering wheel cover and detach the claw and guide to remove the lower No. 2 steering wheel cover.

5. REMOVE STEERING PAD (for Torx Type)

  1. Using a T30 "TORX" socket wrench, loosen the 2 "TORX" screws until the groove along the screw circumference catches on the screw case.

  1. Tilt the steering pad toward the seat and support it with one hand.

    NOTICE:
    1. Do not drop the steering pad.
    2. When disconnecting the steering pad, do not pull the airbag wire harness.
  1. Disconnect the horn connector.

  1. Using a screwdriver, release the connector lock and disconnect the airbag connector.

    NOTICE:
    When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
    HINT:
    1. Use the same procedure to disconnect the airbag connector on the other side.
    2. Tape the screwdriver tip before use.


6. REMOVE STEERING PAD (for Pin Type)


  1. Using a T25H "TORX" driver, push in the torsion spring to detach the 3 pins and remove the steering pad.

    NOTICE:
    1. Do not drop the steering pad.
    2. When disconnecting the steering pad, do not pull the airbag wire harness.
    HINT:
    Insert the T25H "TORX" screwdriver into the installation areas of the lower No. 2 steering wheel cover and lower No. 3 steering wheel cover.

  1. Tilt the steering pad toward the seat and support it with one hand.
