PRECAUTION
DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
REMOVE LOWER NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER
REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER
REMOVE STEERING PAD (for Torx Type)
REMOVE STEERING PAD (for Pin Type)
- HINT:
- Use the same procedure for RHD and LHD vehicles.
- The procedure listed below is for LHD vehicles.
- CAUTION:
- Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing (Click here).
- NOTICE:
- After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (- ) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work (Click here).
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL |
- CAUTION:
- Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
- NOTICE:
- When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (Click here).
3. REMOVE LOWER NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER |
Using a screwdriver, insert the screwdriver into the cutout of the lower No. 3 steering wheel cover and detach the claw and guide to remove the lower No. 3 steering wheel cover.

4. REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER |
Using a screwdriver, insert the screwdriver into the cutout of the lower No. 2 steering wheel cover and detach the claw and guide to remove the lower No. 2 steering wheel cover.

5. REMOVE STEERING PAD (for Torx Type) |
Using a T30 "TORX" socket wrench, loosen the 2 "TORX" screws until the groove along the screw circumference catches on the screw case.

Tilt the steering pad toward the seat and support it with one hand.
- NOTICE:
- Do not drop the steering pad.
- When disconnecting the steering pad, do not pull the airbag wire harness.
Disconnect the horn connector.
Using a screwdriver, release the connector lock and disconnect the airbag connector.

- NOTICE:
- When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
- HINT:
- Use the same procedure to disconnect the airbag connector on the other side.
- Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
6. REMOVE STEERING PAD (for Pin Type) |
Using a T25H "TORX" driver, push in the torsion spring to detach the 3 pins and remove the steering pad.
- NOTICE:
- Do not drop the steering pad.
- When disconnecting the steering pad, do not pull the airbag wire harness.
- HINT:
- Insert the T25H "TORX" screwdriver into the installation areas of the lower No. 2 steering wheel cover and lower No. 3 steering wheel cover.
Tilt the steering pad toward the seat and support it with one hand.
Disconnect the horn connector.
Using a screwdriver, release the connector lock and disconnect the airbag connector.
