DESCRIPTION

HINT:
"Door side airbag sensor LH" refer to the side airbag sensor LH.
  1. The side airbag sensor LH or rear airbag sensor RH consists of the safing sensor, the diagnostic circuit, the lateral deceleration sensor, etc.
    If the center airbag sensor receives signals from the lateral deceleration sensor, it determines whether the SRS should be activated.
    DTC B1630/23 or B1695/16 is stored when a malfunction is detected in the side airbag sensor LH or rear airbag sensor RH circuit.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
  1. After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work (Click here).
  2. When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (Click here).
1.CHECK FOR DTC
  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

  1. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory (Click here).

  1. Turn the ignition switch off.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

  1. Check for DTCs (Click here).

2.CHECK REAR AIRBAG SENSOR RH

  1. Turn the ignition switch off.

  1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

  1. Temporarily replace the rear airbag sensor RH with a new one.

  1. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

  1. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory (Click here).

  1. Turn the ignition switch off.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

  1. Check for DTCs (Click here).

    OK:
    DTC B1630 is not output.
    HINT:
    Codes other than DTC B1630 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

3.CHECK SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR LH

  1. Turn the ignition switch off.

  1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

  1. Interchange the side airbag sensor LH with RH and connect the connectors to them.

  1. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

  1. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory (Click here).

  1. Turn the ignition switch off.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

  1. Check for DTCs (Click here).

  1. Return the side airbag sensor RH and LH to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.
