  1. FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

  3. REMOVE STEERING PAD

  4. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY

  5. REMOVE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY (w/ Steering Pad Switch)

  6. REMOVE STEERING PAD SWITCH LH (w/ Steering Pad Switch)

  7. REMOVE CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH (w/ Cruise Control System)

  8. REMOVE STEERING PAD COVER LH (for Type A)

  9. REMOVE STEERING PAD COVER RH (for Type A)

  10. REMOVE NO. 1 STEERING WHEEL ORNAMENT (for Type B)

  11. REMOVE NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL ORNAMENT (for Type B)

  12. REMOVE STEERING SHAKE DAMPER (Steering Shake Damper)

  13. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL BOSS LOWER COVER (w/o Steering Heater)

Steering Wheel -- Removal


CAUTION:
Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing the steering column (Click here).


1. FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD


2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
NOTICE:
  1. After the engine switch is turned off, the navigation system requires approximately 90 seconds to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, wait 90 seconds or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
  2. When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (Click here).


3. REMOVE STEERING PAD

4. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY

  1. Remove the steering wheel set nut.



  1. for A Type:

    1. Put matchmarks on the steering wheel and main shaft.

    2. Using SST, remove the steering wheel assembly.

      HINT:
      Apply a small amount of grease to the threads and tip of SST (09953-05020) before use.


  1. for B Type:

    1. Put matchmarks on the steering wheel and main shaft.

    2. Using SST, remove the steering wheel assembly.

      HINT:
      Apply a small amount of grease to the threads and tip of SST (09953-05020) before use.


5. REMOVE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY (w/ Steering Pad Switch)


  1. Remove the 4 screws.

  1. Detach the 4 claws and 4 guide pin, remove the steering pad switch assembly.



6. REMOVE STEERING PAD SWITCH LH (w/ Steering Pad Switch)
HINT:
Refer to "REMOVE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY".


7. REMOVE CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH (w/ Cruise Control System)

  1. Disconnect the connector.

  1. Remove the 2 screws.

  1. Disconnect the connector and remove the cruise control main switch wire.



8. REMOVE STEERING PAD COVER LH (for Type A)

  1. Remove the screw and 3 guide pins, remove the steering pad cover LH.



9. REMOVE STEERING PAD COVER RH (for Type A)
HINT:
Refer to "REMOVE STEERING PAD COVER LH".


10. REMOVE NO. 1 STEERING WHEEL ORNAMENT (for Type B)


    Land Cruiser. Urj200, 202 Grj200 Vdj200

  1. Remove the 4 screws.

  1. Detach the 2 claws and 2 guide pins, remove the No. 1 steering wheel ornament.



11. REMOVE NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL ORNAMENT (for Type B)
HINT:
Refer to "REMOVE NO. 1 STEERING WHEEL ORNAMENT".


12. REMOVE STEERING SHAKE DAMPER (Steering Shake Damper)


    Land Cruiser. Urj200, 202 Grj200 Vdj200

  1. Remove the 2 screws and remove the steering shake damper.



13. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL BOSS LOWER COVER (w/o Steering Heater)


  1. for Type A



      Land Cruiser. Urj200, 202 Grj200 Vdj200

    1. Remove the 2 screws and 4 claws, and remove the steering wheel boss lower cover.



  1. for Type B



      Land Cruiser. Urj200, 202 Grj200 Vdj200

    1. Detach the 6 claws remove the steering wheel boss lower cover.
