  1. REMOVE REAR AXLE SHAFT SNAP RING

  2. REMOVE REAR AXLE SHAFT LH

  3. REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY LH

  4. REMOVE BRAKE DRUM OIL DEFLECTOR LH

Rear Axle Shaft -- Disassembly



1. REMOVE REAR AXLE SHAFT SNAP RING


    Land Cruiser. Urj200, 202 Grj200 Vdj200

  1. Using a snap ring expander, remove the snap ring.



2. REMOVE REAR AXLE SHAFT LH

  1. Using SST and a press, press out the rear axle shaft.

  1. Remove the rear axle bearing inner retainer from the axle hub.

  1. Remove the rear axle shaft washer from the axle hub.

  1. Grind the rear axle bearing inner race surface using a grinder, then remove it with a chisel.



3. REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY LH


    Land Cruiser. Urj200, 202 Grj200 Vdj200

  1. Temporarily install 4 nuts to the housing bolts.

    NOTICE:
    Do not use any nuts removed from the vehicle, as they may be damaged.

  1. Using a hammer, remove the 4 housing bolts and rear axle hub and bearing.

  1. Remove the 4 nuts.



4. REMOVE BRAKE DRUM OIL DEFLECTOR LH

  1. Using SST, remove the 5 hub bolts.

    NOTICE:
    1. Do not deform the oil deflector.
    2. Make sure to align the notch of SST with the flange of the oil deflector.

  1. Remove the deflector and deflector gasket from the rear axle shaft.
