INSPECTION PROCEDURE

1.CHECK CENTER DIFFERENTIAL LOCK INDICATOR LIGHT
  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

  1. Check the center differential lock indicator light.

  1. for Automatic Transmission w/ Entry and Start System:
    Press the center differential lock switch (integration control and panel assembly) .
    for Manual Transmission w/ Entry and Start System:
    Press the center differential lock switch.
    w/o Entry and Start System:
    Press the center differential lock switch.

  1. After 60 seconds, check the center differential lock indicator light.

    The center differential lock indicator light blinks, turns off or illuminates

    Center differential lock indicator light remains off regardless of switch operation
    B
    Center differential lock indicator remains illuminated regardless of switch operation
    C
    Center differential lock indicator light rapidly blinks

    1. Blinking: Blinks at 0.5 second intervals (0.5 seconds on and 0.5 seconds off)
    2. Rapidly blinking: Blinks at 0.25 second intervals (0.25 seconds on and 0.25 seconds off)

  1. Select "Bus Check" from the System Selection Menu screen, and follow the prompts on the screen to inspect the CAN bus (for LHD with Central Gateway ECU: Click here, for LHD without Central Gateway ECU: Click here, for RHD with Central Gateway ECU: Click here, for RHD without Central Gateway ECU: Click here).

    OK:
    "Bus Check" indicates no malfunctions in CAN communication.

3.READ VALUE USING GTS
  1. Turn the ignition switch off.

  1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

  1. Turn the GTS on.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

  1. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Four Wheel Drive / Data List.

  1. According to the display on the GTS, read the Data List.

4.INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
  1. Turn the ignition switch off.

  1. Perform an Active Test of the combination meter assembly using the GTS (Click here).

  1. Check the combination meter assembly.

    OK:
    The center differential lock indicator light turns on or off in accordance with the GTS.

      The center differential lock switch (integration control and panel assembly) operates normally.
  1. for Manual Transmission w/ Entry and Start System:

    1. Remove the center differential lock switch (Click here).

    2. Inspect the center differential lock switch (Click here).

      OK:
      The center differential lock switch operates normally.
  1. w/o Entry and Start System:

6.CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR ((4 WHEEL DRIVE CONTROL ECU - CENTER DIFFERENTIAL LOCK SWITCH)
  1. Disconnect the A27 4 wheel drive control ECU connector.

  1. for Automatic Transmission w/ Entry and Start System:
    Disconnect the V9 center differential lock switch (integration control and panel assembly) connector.

  1. for Manual Transmission w/ Entry and Start System:
    Disconnect the E178 center differential lock switch connector.

  1. w/o Entry and Start System:
    Disconnect the G24 center differential lock switch connector.

  1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
