INSPECTION PROCEDURE

CHECK FOR ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P0299)

CHECK FREEZE FRAME DATA (COMMON RAIL PRESSURE AND TARGET COMMON RAIL PRESSURE)

DTC Detection Condition
Trouble Area
Accelerate vehicle with accelerator depressed halfway or more starting from a speed of 120 km/h (75 mph) or more for 2 minutes (make sure gear is fixed and does not change)
The pressure is 55 kPa below the Target Booster Pressure for 40 seconds at an engine speed of 2800 to 4400 rpm (2 trip detection logic).
  1. Turbocharger sub-assembly
  2. Extremely low battery voltage (P0560 output simultaneously)
  3. Disconnected pipe between turbocharger and intake manifold
  4. Disconnected manifold absolute pressure sensor hose
  5. Throttle valve stuck closed
  6. EGR valve assembly does not close
  7. Exhaust system or intake system modified (leading to increased pressure loss, etc.)
  8. Manifold absolute pressure sensor
  9. Injection system (reduction in fuel injection volume)
  10. Fuel filter element sub-assembly clog
  11. ECM

HINT:
  1. If DTC P0299 is stored due to the variable nozzle being stuck open, the following symptoms may appear:
    1. Lack of power
    2. Vehicle surge or hesitation under light or medium load

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
  1. After replacing the ECM, the new ECM needs registration (Click here) and initialization (Click here).
  2. After replacing the fuel supply pump assembly, the ECM needs initialization (Click here).
  3. After replacing an injector assembly, the ECM needs registration (Click here).
HINT:
  1. Read freeze frame data using the GTS. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
  2. Comparison of the data list items manifold absolute pressure and target booster pressure during acceleration under medium to high engine speeds can be used to determine the state of the problem.
1.CHECK FOR ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P0299)
  1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the GTS on.

  1. Enter the following menus: Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.

  1. Read the DTCs.

2.CHECK FREEZE FRAME DATA (COMMON RAIL PRESSURE AND TARGET COMMON RAIL PRESSURE)

  1. Record the stored DTCs and freeze frame data.
