Steering Wheel Installation

  1. ADJUST SPIRAL CABLE (w/ Airbag System)

  2. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY

  3. INSTALL CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH (w/ Cruise Control System)

  4. INSTALL NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL ORNAMENT (w/o Steering Pad Switch)

  5. INSTALL NO. 1 STEERING WHEEL ORNAMENT (w/o Steering Pad Switch)

  6. INSTALL STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY (w/ Multi-information Display)

  7. INSTALL STEERING PAD SWITCH LH (w/o Multi-information Display)

  8. INSTALL STEERING PAD ASSEMBLY (for 4 Spoke)

  9. INSTALL STEERING PAD ASSEMBLY (for 3 Spoke)

  10. INSPECT STEERING WHEEL CENTER POINT

  11. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

  12. CHECK SRS WARNING LIGHT (w/ Airbag System)

Steering Wheel -- Installation



1. ADJUST SPIRAL CABLE (w/ Airbag System)

  1. Turn the ignition switch off.

  1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

    CAUTION:
    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

  1. Rotate the spiral cable sub-assembly with steering sensor counterclockwise slowly by hand until it feels firm.

    NOTICE:
    Do not use the airbag wire harness to turn the spiral cable sub-assembly.

  1. Rotate the spiral cable sub-assembly clockwise approximately 2.5 turns to align the marks.

    NOTICE:
    Do not turn the spiral cable with steering sensor by the airbag wire harness.
    HINT:
    The spiral cable with steering sensor can be rotated approximately 2.5 turns to both the left and right from the center position.


2. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY

  1. for 3 spoke:
    Apply the silicon grease to the steering wheel.

  1. Align the matchmarks on the steering wheel assembly and steering main shaft.

  1. Install the steering wheel assembly set nut.

    Torque:
    50 N*m{510 kgf*cm, 37 ft.*lbf}


3. INSTALL CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH (w/ Cruise Control System)


    Hilux. Tgn26, 36 Kun25, 26, 35, 36 Ggn25

  1. Install the switch as shown in the illustration.

  1. Install the 2 screws.

    Torque:
    2.4 N*m{25 kgf*cm, 21 in.*lbf}

  1. Connect the connector.



4. INSTALL NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL ORNAMENT (w/o Steering Pad Switch)

  1. Attach the 2 pins and install the steering wheel ornament.

  1. Install the screw.



5. INSTALL NO. 1 STEERING WHEEL ORNAMENT (w/o Steering Pad Switch)

  1. Attach the 2 pins and install the steering wheel ornament.

  1. Install the screw.



6. INSTALL STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY (w/ Multi-information Display)

  1. Attach the 4 pins to install the steering pad switch.

  1. Install the 2 screws.

  1. Connect the connectors and attach the 2 clamps.



7. INSTALL STEERING PAD SWITCH LH (w/o Multi-information Display)
HINT:
Refer to the step "INSTALL STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY".


8. INSTALL STEERING PAD ASSEMBLY (for 4 Spoke)

9. INSTALL STEERING PAD ASSEMBLY (for 3 Spoke)

  1. Connect the horn wire.

  1. Attach the 3 pins and install the steering pad.



10. INSPECT STEERING WHEEL CENTER POINT


11. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (HILUX_TGN26 RM000004QR300CX.html).


12. CHECK SRS WARNING LIGHT (w/ Airbag System)
