  1. CHECK FUEL PRESSURE

  2. CHECK FOR FUEL LEAKS

  3. BLEED AIR FROM FUEL SYSTEM

  4. CHECK FUEL FILTER WARNING LIGHT AND DRAIN WATER

Fuel System -- On-Vehicle Inspection



1. CHECK FUEL PRESSURE

  1. READ DATA LIST

    1. Warm up the engine.

    2. Turn the ignition switch off.

    3. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    4. Start the engine.

    5. Turn the intelligent tester ON.

    6. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List.

    7. Read the Data list.

      Intelligent Tester Display
      		Measurement Item/Range (Display)
      		Normal Conditions
      Fuel Press
      		Fuel pressure / Min.: 0 MPa, Max.: 655.350 MPa
      		35 to 40 MPa: Idling
      Target Common Rail Pressure
      		Target common rail pressure/ Min.: 0 kPa, Max.: 655350 kPa
      		20 to 170 MPa


2. CHECK FOR FUEL LEAKS

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST

    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Start the engine.

    3. Turn the intelligent tester ON.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Active Test.

    5. Perform the Active Test.

      Intelligent Tester Display
      		Test Details
      		Control Range
      		Diagnostic Notes
      Test the Fuel Leak
      		Pressurizing common rail internal fuel pressure, and checking for fuel leaks
      		Stop/Start
      1. Fuel pressure inside common rail pressurized to specified value and engine speed increased to 2,000 rpm when start is selected
      2. Above conditions to be maintained while test is started


3. BLEED AIR FROM FUEL SYSTEM

  1. Using the hand pump indicated by the arrows in the illustration, bleed the fuel system. Continue pumping until pumping becomes difficult.



4. CHECK FUEL FILTER WARNING LIGHT AND DRAIN WATER

  1. Check the fuel filter warning light.

    ПРИМЕЧАНИЕ:
    When the fuel filter warning light illuminates and the buzzer sounds, the water in the fuel filter must be drained immediately.

  1. Remove the drain plug and place a small tray to catch the water.

  1. Operate the hand pump until only fuel begins to run out.

  1. After draining, retighten the drain plug.

    ПРИМЕЧАНИЕ:
    Do not use any tools.
