Automatic Disconnecting Differential Actuator Removal

  1. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER

  2. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER

  3. DRAIN DIFFERENTIAL OIL

  4. REMOVE DIFFERENTIAL VACUUM ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY

Automatic Disconnecting Differential Actuator -- Removal



1. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER


2. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER


3. DRAIN DIFFERENTIAL OIL

  1. Stop the vehicle on a level surface.

  1. Remove the differential filler plug and gasket.

  1. Remove the drain plug and gasket, and drain the oil.

  1. Install a new gasket and the drain plug.

    Torque:
    for front differential:
    65 N*m{660 kgf*cm, 48 ft.*lbf}
    for rear differential:
    49 N*m{500 kgf*cm, 36 ft.*lbf}


4. REMOVE DIFFERENTIAL VACUUM ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY

  1. Remove the bolt and disconnect the differential breather tube bracket.

  1. Support the differential with a jack.

  1. Remove the No. 1 differential mounting nut.

  1. Remove the 2 mounting bolts and 2 nuts.

  1. Lower the jack.

  1. Disconnect the connector.

  1. Remove the 4 bolts.

  1. Using a hammer, pry out the actuator from the differential tube.
