Rear Axle Shaft Removal

Drivetrain. Hilux. Tgn26, 36 Kun25, 26, 35, 36 Ggn25
Axle And Differential. Hilux. Tgn26, 36 Kun25, 26, 35, 36 Ggn25

  1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL

  2. REMOVE REAR BRAKE

  3. REMOVE REAR SPEED SENSOR LH (w/ ABS)

  4. DISCONNECT PARKING BRAKE CABLE

  5. REMOVE REAR AXLE SHAFT WITH BACKING PLATE

  6. REMOVE O-RING

  7. REMOVE REAR AXLE SHAFT OIL SEAL LH

Rear Axle Shaft -- Removal


HINT:
  1. Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.
  2. The procedure listed below is for the LH side.


1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL


2. REMOVE REAR BRAKE

  1. for 2WD:

  1. for 4WD and Pre-Runner:

3. REMOVE REAR SPEED SENSOR LH (w/ ABS)


  1. Disconnect the sensor connector.


    Hilux. Tgn26, 36 Kun25, 26, 35, 36 Ggn25.Axle And Differential.Axle System.Rear Axle Shaft Removal

  1. Detach the clamp.

  1. Remove the 2 bolts and 2 harness clamps.

  1. Remove the bolt and speed sensor LH.



  1. Disconnect the sensor connector.


    Hilux. Tgn26, 36 Kun25, 26, 35, 36 Ggn25.Axle And Differential.Axle System.Rear Axle Shaft Removal

  1. Detach the connector.

  1. Detach the 2 clamps.

  1. Remove the bolt and harness clamp.

  1. Remove the bolt and speed sensor RH.



4. DISCONNECT PARKING BRAKE CABLE

  1. Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the parking brake cable.



5. REMOVE REAR AXLE SHAFT WITH BACKING PLATE


Hilux. Tgn26, 36 Kun25, 26, 35, 36 Ggn25

  1. Remove the 4 nuts.

  1. Pull out the axle shaft from the axle housing.



6. REMOVE O-RING

  1. Remove the O-ring from the axle housing.



7. REMOVE REAR AXLE SHAFT OIL SEAL LH

  1. Using SST, tap out the oil seal.

    NOTICE:
    Be careful not to damage the axle housing hole.
