  1. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL

  2. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID (for 2WD)

  3. DISCONNECT FRONT FLEXIBLE HOSE (for 2WD)

  4. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH (for 2WD)

  5. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH (for 4WD and Pre-Runner)

  6. REMOVE FRONT DISC (for 2WD)

  7. REMOVE FRONT DISC (for 4WD and Pre-Runner)

  8. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB BOLT

  9. INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB BOLT

  10. INSTALL FRONT DISC (for 2WD)

  11. INSTALL FRONT DISC (for 4WD and Pre-Runner)

  12. INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH (for 4WD and Pre-Runner)

  13. INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH (for 2WD)

  14. CONNECT FRONT FLEXIBLE HOSE (for 2WD)

  15. BLEED BRAKE LINE (for 2WD)

  16. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL

Front Axle Hub Bolt -- Replacement


HINT:
  1. Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.
  2. The procedure listed below is for the LH side.


1. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL


2. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID (for 2WD)
NOTICE:
Wash off brake fluid immediately if it comes in contact with any painted surface.


3. DISCONNECT FRONT FLEXIBLE HOSE (for 2WD)

  1. Remove the union bolt and gasket.

  1. Disconnect the flexible hose from the brake cylinder.



4. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH (for 2WD)

  1. Remove the 2 bolts and disc brake cylinder.



5. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH (for 4WD and Pre-Runner)

  1. Remove the bolt and brake tube bracket from the steering knuckle.

  1. Remove the 2 bolts and disc brake cylinder.

    NOTICE:
    Use wire or an equivalent tool to keep the brake cylinder from hanging down by the front flexible hose.


6. REMOVE FRONT DISC (for 2WD)

  1. Put matchmarks on the disc and axle hub.

  1. Remove the disc.



7. REMOVE FRONT DISC (for 4WD and Pre-Runner)

  1. Put matchmarks on the disc and axle hub.

8. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB BOLT

  1. Temporarily install 2 nuts and 2 washers to the front axle hub bolt as shown in the illustration.

  1. Using SST and a screwdriver, remove the hub bolt.

9. INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB BOLT

  1. Temporarily install a plate washer and nut to a new hub bolt as shown in the illustration.

  1. Using a screwdriver to hold the front axle, install a new hub bolt by tightening the nut. Then remove the nut and plate washer.

  1. Remove the 2 nuts from the hub bolts.



10. INSTALL FRONT DISC (for 2WD)

  1. Align the matchmarks and install the disc.

    HINT:
    When replacing the disc with a new one, select the installation position where the disc has the smallest runout.


11. INSTALL FRONT DISC (for 4WD and Pre-Runner)

  1. Align the matchmarks and install the disc.

    HINT:
    When replacing the disc with a new one, select the installation position where the disc has the smallest runout.


12. INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH (for 4WD and Pre-Runner)

  1. Install the disc brake cylinder with the 2 bolts.

    Torque:
    122 N*m{1244 kgf*cm, 90 ft.*lbf}


    Hilux. Tgn26, 36 Kun25, 26, 35, 36 Ggn25.Axle And Differential.Axle System.Front Axle Hub Bolt Replacement

  1. Install the brake tube bracket to the steering knuckle with the bolt.

    Torque:
    29 N*m{296 kgf*cm, 21 ft.*lbf}


13. INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH (for 2WD)

  1. Install the disc brake cylinder with the 2 bolts.

    Torque:
    117 N*m{1191 kgf*cm, 86 ft.*lbf}


14. CONNECT FRONT FLEXIBLE HOSE (for 2WD)


    Hilux. Tgn26, 36 Kun25, 26, 35, 36 Ggn25

  1. Install a new gasket and connect the flexible hose with a new union bolt.

    Torque:
    29 N*m{296 kgf*cm, 21 ft.*lbf}
    HINT:
    Insert the flexible hose lock securely into the lock hole in the cylinder.


15. BLEED BRAKE LINE (for 2WD)

16. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL
Torque:
for 2WD:
152 N*m{1550 kgf*cm, 112 ft.*lbf}
for 4WD and Pre-Runner:
105 N*m{1071 kgf*cm, 77 ft.*lbf}
