Automatic Transaxle Unit (For Sedan) -- Inspection

1. INSPECT FRONT CLUTCH CLUTCH DISC

Check whether the sliding surface of the disc, plate and flange are worn or burnt. If necessary, replace them.
NOTICE:
1. If the lining of the disc is peeling off or discolored, or even if a part of the printed number is defaced, replace all the discs.
2. Before assembling new discs, soak them in Toyota Genuine ATF WS or equivalent for at least 15 minutes.

2. INSPECT FORWARD CLUTCH RETURN SPRING SUB-ASSEMBLY

Using vernier calipers, measure the free length of the spring together with the spring seat.
Standard free length:
21.69 mm (0.8540 in.)

3. INSPECT OVERDRIVE BRAKE RETURN SPRING SUB-ASSEMBLY

Using vernier calipers, measure the free length of the spring together with the spring seat.
Standard free length:
17.88 mm (0.7039 in.)

4. INSPECT REVERSE CLUTCH DISC

Check whether the sliding surfaces of the disc, plate and flange are worn or burnt. If necessary, replace them.
NOTICE:
1. If the lining of the disc is peeling off or discolored, or even if a part of the printed mark is defaced, replace all the discs.
2. Before assembling new discs, soak them in Toyota Genuine ATF WS or equivalent for at least 15 minutes.

5. INSPECT DIRECT CLUTCH DISK

Check whether the sliding surface of the disc, plate and flange are worn or burnt. If necessary, replace them.
NOTICE:
1. If the lining of the disc is peeling off or discolored, or even if a part of the printed mark is defaced, replace all the discs.
2. Before assembling new discs, soak them in Toyota Genuine ATF WS or equivalent for at least 15 minutes.

6. INSPECT DIRECT CLUTCH RETURN SPRING SUB-ASSEMBLY

Using vernier calipers, measure the free length of the spring together with the spring seat.
Standard free length:
32.9 mm (1.2953 in.)

7. INSPECT DIRECT CLUTCH PISTON SUB-ASSEMBLY

Apply low pressure compressed air to the check ball and check that no air leakage is identified.

8. INSPECT INTERMEDIATE SHAFT SUB-ASSEMBLY

Apply low pressure compressed air to the check ball and check that no air leakage is identified.

9. INSPECT 2ND COAST AND OVERDRIVE BRAKE DISC

Check whether the sliding surfaces of the disc, plate and flange are worn or burnt.
If necessary, replace them.
NOTICE:
1. If the lining of the disc is peeling off or discolored, or even if a part of the printed number is defaced, replace all the discs.
2. Before assembling new discs, soak them in Toyota Genuine ATF WS or equivalent for at least 15 minutes.

10. INSPECT 2ND BRAKE DISC

Check whether the sliding surfaces of the disc, plate and flange are worn or burnt.
If necessary, replace them.
NOTICE:
1. If the lining of the disc is peeling off or discolored or even if a part of the printed mark is defaced, replace all the discs.
2. Before assembling new discs, soak them in Toyota Genuine ATF WS or equivalent for at least 15 minutes.

11. INSPECT 2ND BRAKE PISTON RETURN SPRING SUB-ASSEMBLY

Using vernier calipers, measure the free length of the spring together with the spring seat.
Standard free length:
14.65 mm (0.5768 in.)

12. INSPECT 1ST AND REVERSE BRAKE DISC

Check to see if the sliding surface of the disc, plate and flange are worn or burnt.
If necessary, replace them.
NOTICE:
1. If the lining of the disc is peeling off or discolored, or even if a part of the printed mark is defaced, replace all the discs.
2. Before assembling new discs, soak in Toyota Genuine ATF WS or equivalent for at least 15 minutes.

13. INSPECT 1ST AND REVERSE BRAKE RETURN SPRING SUB-ASSEMBLY

Using vernier calipers, measure the free length of the spring together with the spring seat.
Standard free length:
13.96 mm (0.5496 in.)
