Starter (For Hatchback Except Cold Area Specification Vehicles) Disassembly

Using a 7 mm socket wrench, remove the 2 bolts.

Remove the hook from the starter pinion drive lever while lifting the rear of the magnet starter switch assembly, and then remove the magnet starter switch assembly.

Using a 7 mm socket wrench, remove the 3 through bolts.

Remove the starter yoke assembly.

Remove the starter commutator end frame assembly.

Remove the starter yoke assembly while holding down the starter armature assembly and the starter brush holder assembly with the handle of a hammer.

HINT:

The starter armature assembly will be attracted by the magnetic field of the starter yoke assembly, so the starter armature assembly is held with the handle of the hammer.

Remove the starter armature assembly from the starter brush holder assembly.

Remove the rubber seal from the starter drive housing assembly.

Remove the starter center bearing clutch sub-assembly from the starter drive housing assembly.

Disengage the 3 claws and remove the starter armature plate from the starter center bearing clutch sub-assembly.

Remove the 3 planet gears from the starter center bearing clutch sub-assembly.
