DESCRIPTION
The meter CPU receives vehicle speed signals from the skid control ECU via the CAN communication line (CAN No. 1 Bus). The vehicle speed sensor detects the voltage that varies according to the vehicle speed. The skid control ECU supplies power to the vehicle speed sensor. The skid control ECU detects vehicle speed signals based on the pulses of the voltage.- HINT:
- If the vehicle speed sensor circuit has a malfunction, the skid control ECU outputs the DTCs. Perform troubleshooting with the Brake Control System (COROLLA_ZRE142 RM000000XHU0A6X.html (w/o VSC), COROLLA_ZRE142 RM000000XHU0A5X.html (w/ VSC)).

Check if CAN communication DTC is output (COROLLA_ZRE142 RM000000WIB0BUX.html).

2.PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (SPEED METER OPERATION) |
Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Turn the Techstream on.
Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Active Test.
Check the operation by referring to the values in the table below.

3.READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (VEHICLE SPEED METER) |
Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Turn the Techstream on.
Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Data List.
Check the values by referring to the values in the table below.

Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Turn the Techstream on.
Enter the following menus: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRAC / Data List.
Check the values by referring to the table below.

5.REPLACE SKID CONTROL ECU |
Replace the skid control ECU with a new or a known good one (COROLLA_ZRE142 RM0000013P6022X.html (w/o VSC), COROLLA_ZRE142 RM000003CZU00MX.html (w/ VSC)).
- OK:
- The operation of the speedometer returns to normal.
