Wiper And Washer System Fail-Safe Chart

When the windshield wiper switch assembly is in any position other than "OFF" and the blades are frozen or a wiper pivot is seized, a malfunction is detected by the windshield wiper relay assembly (auto wiper relay) and the wiper operation is stopped.

HINT:

Recovery condition: Ignition switch is in the OFF position or windshield wiper switch assembly off.

When the rain sensor is malfunctioning and the windshield wiper switch assembly is in the INT position, the front wiper system will use the mode that the rain sensor determined to be appropriate before the rain sensor malfunctioned.

HINT:

Recovery condition: Signal level error cancellation from rain sensor.

When the rain sensor overheats and the front wiper is in the HI operation mode, the front wiper system is changed to the LO operation mode.

HINT:

1. Recovery condition: Ignition switch is in the OFF position or wiper operation signal is not AUTO or LO.
   
2. A mode change is not carried out when rain sensor is the malfunction in high temperature, or malfunction in low-temperature.
