Steering Angle Sensor (W/ Vsc) Removal

  1. PRECAUTION

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

  3. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD

  4. REMOVE NO. 2 LOWER STEERING WHEEL COVER

  5. REMOVE NO. 3 LOWER STEERING WHEEL COVER

  6. REMOVE STEERING PAD

  7. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY

  8. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER

  9. REMOVE SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY WITH STEERING ANGLE SENSOR

  10. REMOVE STEERING ANGLE SENSOR

Steering Angle Sensor (W/ Vsc) -- Removal



1. PRECAUTION
CAUTION:
Be sure to read "PRECAUTION" thoroughly before servicing (CAMRY_ACV40 RM000000KT10BKX.html).


2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION:
Wait for 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent airbag deployment.
NOTICE:
w/ Navigation System for HDD:
After the ignition switch is turned off, the navigation receiver assembly (HDD navigation system) records various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the ignition switch off, make sure to wait at least 60 seconds before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.


3. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
NOTICE:
When reconnecting the cable to the negative battery terminal after installing the steering angle sensor, check that the front tires and steering wheel are kept aligned straight ahead before and after connecting the cable to the negative battery terminal.


4. REMOVE NO. 2 LOWER STEERING WHEEL COVER

  1. Using a screwdriver, disengage the claw and remove the No. 2 lower steering wheel cover.

    HINT:
    Tape up the screwdriver tip before use.


5. REMOVE NO. 3 LOWER STEERING WHEEL COVER

  1. Using a screwdriver, disengage the claw and remove the No. 3 lower steering wheel cover.

    HINT:
    Tape up the screwdriver tip before use.


6. REMOVE STEERING PAD


    Camry. Acv40 Gsv40.Brake Control.Anti-Lock Brake System.Steering Angle Sensor (W/ Vsc)  Removal
  1. Using a "TORX" socket (T30), loosen the 2 "TORX" screws until the groove along the screw circumference catches on the screw case.

  1. Pull out the steering pad from the steering wheel assembly and support the steering pad with one hand.

    NOTICE:
    When removing the steering pad, do not pull the airbag wire harness.
  1. Disconnect the horn connector from the steering pad.

  1. Disconnect the 2 airbag connectors and remove the steering pad.

    NOTICE:
    When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
  1. Remove the steering pad.



7. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY
  1. Remove the steering wheel assembly set nut.

  1. Put matchmarks on the steering wheel assembly and the steering main shaft.

  1. Disconnect the connectors from the spiral cable.

  1. Using SST, remove the steering wheel assembly.

8. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER

  1. Remove the 2 screws.

  1. Disengage the 2 claws to remove the lower steering column cover.

  1. Disengage the claw to remove the upper steering column cover.



9. REMOVE SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY WITH STEERING ANGLE SENSOR

  1. Disconnect the connectors from the spiral cable with steering angle sensor.

    NOTICE:
    When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
  1. Disengage the 3 claws and remove the spiral cable with steering angle sensor.



10. REMOVE STEERING ANGLE SENSOR


    Camry. Acv40 Gsv40.Brake Control.Anti-Lock Brake System.Steering Angle Sensor (W/ Vsc)  Removal
  1. Disengage the 6 claws and remove the steering angle sensor from the spiral cable.
