Clutch Master Cylinder -- Removal

HINT:

Use the same procedures for the RHD and LHD.
The procedures listed below are for the LHD.

1. PRECAUTION

2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

3. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID

NOTICE:

Stop the engine and depress the brake pedal several times until no vacuum is left in the brake booster.
If the brake fluid leaks onto any painted surface, wash off and remove the brake fluid completely.

4. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY (for LHD)

Disconnect the mass air flow meter connector (^*1).

Disconnect the purge VSV connector (^*2).

Disconnect the 2 purge VSV vacuum hoses (^*3).

Disconnect the purge line hose from the clamp (^*4).

Disconnect the No. 2 ventilation hose from the air cleaner hose.

Lock the No. 1 air cleaner hose clamp, and then disconnect the No. 1 air cleaner hose from the throttle body.

Remove the 2 bolts and air cleaner cap.

Remove the air cleaner filter element from the air cleaner case.

5. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY (for LHD)

Disconnect the hose clamp.

Remove the 3 bolts and air cleaner case.

6. REMOVE WIND SHIELD WIPER LINK ASSEMBLY

7. REMOVE COWL TOP PANEL OUTER SUB-ASSEMBLY

Remove the 4 bolts, 4 nuts and outer cowl top panel sub-assembly.

8. REMOVE BRAKE BOOSTER ASSEMBLY (for LHD)

9. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH

Disengage the 7 claws and 3 clips, and remove the front door scuff plate LH.

10. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

Remove the cowl side trim clip.

Disengage the 2 clips and remove the cowl side trim sub-assembly LH.

11. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL LH

Remove the bolt <A> and the screw <B>.

Disengage the 2 claws and the DLC3.

Disconnect the hood lock control cable assembly.

Disengage the claw and the 4 clips.

Remove the air hose, disconnect the connector, and then remove the lower instrument panel finish panel LH.

12. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY

Disengage the 3 claws and the 2 clips.

Disconnect each connector and remove the instrument panel sub-assembly.

13. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL

Disengage the 2 claws and 2 clips, and then remove the lower instrument panel finish panel.

14. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL NO.1

Remove the 2 clips.

Disengage the guide and 4 claws and then remove the instrument cluster finish panel.

15. REMOVE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY

Remove the 4 screws <E>.

Disconnect each connector and remove the combination meter assembly.

16. DISCONNECT CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER PUSH ROD CLEVIS

Remove the clip and pin, and disconnect the push rod clevis from the clutch pedal.

17. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID

NOTICE:

Wash brake fluid off immediately if it is spilled on any painted surface.

18. DISCONNECT CLUTCH RESERVOIR TUBE

Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip to disconnect the tube from the clutch master cylinder.
HINT:
Use a container to catch the fluid.

19. DISCONNECT CLUTCH LINE

Using SST, disconnect the clutch line.

20. REMOVE CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER ASSEMBLY (for LHD)

Remove the 2 nuts and clutch master cylinder.

Remove the gasket from the clutch master cylinder assembly.

21. REMOVE CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER ASSEMBLY (for RHD)

Remove the 2 nuts and clutch master cylinder.

Remove the gasket from the clutch master cylinder assembly.
