DESCRIPTION

The front passenger side - side airbag sensor and rear airbag sensor consist of parts including the diagnostic circuit and the lateral deceleration sensor.
When the center airbag sensor receives signals from the lateral deceleration sensor, it determines whether or not the SRS should be activated.
DTC B1628/82, B1637/82, B1638/82 or B1647/82 is recorded when a malfunction is detected in the front passenger side rear airbag sensor circuit.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

1.CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTOR

  1. Turn the ignition switch off.

  1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

  1. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the center airbag sensor, front passenger side rear airbag sensor and the front passenger side - side airbag sensor.

    OK:
    The connectors are properly connected.

2.CHECK FLOOR WIRE (OPEN)

  1. Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor and the front passenger side - side airbag sensor.

  1. for LHD:
    Using a service wire, connect L21-4 (BBR+) and L21-3 (BBR-) of connector C.

    NOTICE:
    Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting.

  1. for RHD:
    Using a service wire, connect K30-4 (BBL+) and K30-3 (BBL-) of connector C.

    NOTICE:
    Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting.

  1. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.

    Standard resistance:
    for LHD:
    Tester Connection
    		Specified Condition
    L3-8 (BBP+) - L3-11 (BBP-)
    		Below 1 Ω
    for RHD:
    Tester Connection
    		Specified Condition

    NOTICE:
    Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting.

  1. for RHD:
    Using a service wire, connect K31-1 (BCL-) and K31-2 (BCL+) of connector C.

    NOTICE:
    Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting.

  1. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.

  1. Interchange the front passenger side - side airbag sensor with the driver side - side airbag sensor and connect the connectors to them.

  1. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

  1. Turn the ignition switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

  1. Clear the DTCs (RAV4_ACA30 RM000000XFE06SX.html).

  1. Turn the ignition switch off.

  1. Turn the ignition switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

  1. Check the DTCs (RAV4_ACA30 RM000000XFE06SX.html).
