  1. CHECK TORQUE SENSOR

  2. CHECK POWER STEERING MOTOR

  3. CHECK MOTOR ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR

  4. INSPECT STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY

Steering Column Assembly (For Lhd) -- Inspection



1. CHECK TORQUE SENSOR

  1. Check the torque sensor (RAV4_ACA30 RM0000020V400CX_04_0003.html).



2. CHECK POWER STEERING MOTOR

  1. Check the power steering motor (RAV4_ACA30 RM0000020V6002X_04_0001.html).



3. CHECK MOTOR ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR

  1. Check the motor rotation angle sensor (RAV4_ACA30 RM0000020V800CX_04_0003.html).



4. INSPECT STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY

  1. Check that the 2 bushings are securely installed to the steering column assembly.

    HINT:
    If the bushings are missing or damaged, replace the steering column assembly with a new one.


  1. Inspect the capsules.

    1. Check that the 2 capsules are securely installed to the steering column assembly as shown in the illustration.

      Standard dimension (A):
      8 mm (0.0315 in.)

      		Capsule
      If the capsules are not positioned as specified, replace the steering column assembly with a new one.

    2. Check the 2 capsules for deformation and damage.
      If either of the capsules is deformed, loose, missing or damaged, replace the steering column assembly with a new one.
