INSPECTION PROCEDURE
- HINT:
- When the engine switch is off, the main body ECU may occasionally go into a non-active state called sleep mode. Therefore, before proceeding with the inspection, it is necessary to perform the following step to wake up the ECU:
- Before starting the inspection, with the engine switch off, open the driver door. Then (with the engine switch still off) open and close any door several times at 1.5 second intervals.
1.CHECK DTC (CERTIFICATION ECU) |
Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
Turn the engine switch on (IG) and press the intelligent tester main switch ON.
Read the DTCs of the certification ECU by following the prompts displayed on the intelligent tester.
- OK:
- No DTCs related to the main body ECU are output.
2.CHECK DTC (MAIN BODY ECU) |
Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
Turn the engine switch on (IG) and press the intelligent tester main switch ON.
Read the DTCs of the main body ECU by following the prompts displayed on the intelligent tester.
- OK:
- No DTCs related to the main body ECU are output.
3.READ VALUE USING DATA LIST (CERTIFICATION ECU) |
Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
Turn the engine switch on (IG) and press the intelligent tester main switch ON.
Within 10 seconds after the engine is started, read the Data List menu of the certification ECU, and check the steering lock command reception record.

4.CHECK STEERING LOCK ACTUATOR |
Turn the engine switch on (IG).
Turn the engine switch off.
With the shift lever on P*, immediately after opening the driver door, inspect the voltage between terminals E6-3 (IGE) and E6-2 (SGND) of the steering lock actuator.

5.CHECK STEERING LOCK FUNCTION |
Open the front passenger side door.
Lock the doors using the wireless remote door lock key.
Check that no doors are locked and the steering lock does not operate.
- OK:
- No doors are locked and steering lock is not locked.

Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
Turn the engine switch on (IG) and press the intelligent tester main switch ON.
Check the Data List and read the value displayed on the intelligent tester.

10.CHECK OPERATION OF STEERING LOCK ACTUATOR |
Replace the steering lock actuator assembly with a normally functioning or new one.
except M/T:
With the shift lever on P and the brake pedal depressed, turn the engine switch on (IG).
for M/T:
With the clutch pedal depressed, turn the engine switch on (IG).
Check whether the steering lock can be released by turning the steering wheel, and check that the engine starts.
- OK:
- Steering lock is released and engine starts.
