1. INSTALL VACUUM PUMP ASSEMBLY |
Apply engine oil to 2 new O-rings.
![]() |
Install the 2 O-rings to the vacuum pump.
Apply engine oil to the cylinder hollow.
![]() |
Install the vacuum pump so that the coupling teeth of the vacuum pump (labeled A) and the groove of the camshaft (labeled B) are aligned.
- NOTICE:
- Be careful not to damage the O-ring.
![]() |
Install the vacuum pump with the 3 bolts.
- Torque:
- 21 N*m{214 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf}
- NOTICE:
- Confirm that the vacuum pump is not at an angle, and that there is no clearance between the fitting surfaces.

2. CONNECT UNION TO CONNECTOR TUBE HOSE |
![]() |
Connect the hose with the clip.
3. CONNECT ENGINE WIRE |
Attach the 9 clamps, and then connect the connectors.
Connect the engine wire with the 3 bolts and 2 nuts.
- Torque:
- for bolt A:
- 8.4 N*m{85 kgf*cm, 74 in.*lbf}
- for bolt B:
- 7.7 N*m{78 kgf*cm, 68 in.*lbf}
- for nut:
- 7.7 N*m{78 kgf*cm, 68 in.*lbf}
4. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY |
Install the air cleaner case with the 3 bolts.
- Torque:
- 5.0 N*m{51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf}
![]() |
Attach the wire harness clamp to the air cleaner case.
5. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY |
Insert the hinge part of the air cleaner cap and hose into the air cleaner case, and then fasten the 2 hook clamps.
![]() |
Connect the No. 1 air cleaner hose to the throttle body and push apart the tabs of the No. 1 air cleaner hose clamp.
- HINT:
- The direction of the hose clamp is indicated in the illustration.

7. INSPECT VACUUM PUMP OPERATION |
Slide the clip and disconnect the union to connector tube hose from the vacuum pump.
Connect the hose of a vacuum gauge to the vacuum pump.
![]() |
Start the engine and warm it up for more than 2 minutes.
With the engine idling, measure the negative pressure of the vacuum pump.
- Standard pressure:
- Higher than 87 kPa (650 mmHg, 25.6 in.Hg)
- HINT:
- It is necessary to replace the vacuum pump assembly every 200000 km (124000 miles).
Remove the vacuum gauge from the vacuum pump.
Connect the union to connector tube hose to the vacuum pump with the clip.
