Starter Relay On-Vehicle Inspection

2Az-Fe Starting. Toyota Rav4. Aca30, 33, 38 Gsa33 Zsa30, 35

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

  2. REMOVE STARTER RELAY

  3. INSPECT STARTER RELAY

  4. INSTALL STARTER RELAY

  5. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

Starter Relay -- On-Vehicle Inspection



1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.


2. REMOVE STARTER RELAY

  1. for LHD:
    Remove the starter relay from the No. 7 relay block.

  1. for RHD:
    Remove the starter relay from the No. 8 relay block.



3. INSPECT STARTER RELAY

  1. Measure the resistance of the relay.

    Standard resistance:
    Tester Connection
    		Specified Condition
    3 - 5
    		10 kΩ or higher
    3 - 5
    		Below 1 Ω
    (when battery voltage is applied to terminals 1 and 2)
    If the resistance is not as specified, replace the relay.


4. INSTALL STARTER RELAY


5. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
