DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
REMOVE FRONT WHEEL RH
REMOVE FRONT FENDER APRON SEAL RH
REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP AND HOSE
REMOVE AIR CLEANER FILTER ELEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY
REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE
REMOVE FAN AND GENERATOR V BELT
DISCONNECT POWER STEERING OIL PRESSURE SWITCH CONNECTOR
DISCONNECT NO. 1 OIL RESERVOIR TO PUMP HOSE
DISCONNECT PRESSURE FEED TUBE
REMOVE VANE PUMP ASSEMBLY
Vane Pump (For 1Gr-Fe) -- Removal |
- NOTICE:
- When using a vise, do not overtighten it.
- When installing the parts indicated by arrows, coat them with power steering fluid (LandCruiser RM0000031M8044X.html).
1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL |
- CAUTION:
- Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
- NOTICE:
- After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work (LandCruiser RM000003YMD00TX.html).
- When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (LandCruiser RM000003YMF011X.html).
3. REMOVE FRONT FENDER APRON SEAL RH |
Remove the 4 clips and fender apron seal.
4. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY |
Raise the front of the V-bank cover to detach the 2 pins. Then remove the 2 V-bank cover hooks from the bracket, and remove the V-bank cover.

5. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP AND HOSE |
Remove the air cleaner cap and hose.
Disconnect the mass air flow meter connector, vacuum hose and ventilation hose and detach the 4 clamps.
Loosen the clamp.
Unfasten the 4 hook clamps, and then remove the bolt and air cleaner cap and hose.
6. REMOVE AIR CLEANER FILTER ELEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY |
7. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE |
8. REMOVE FAN AND GENERATOR V BELT |
While turning the belt tensioner counterclockwise, align the service hole for the belt tensioner and the belt tensioner fixing position, and then insert a bar of φ 6 mm (0.236 in.) into the service hole to fix the belt tensioner in place.
- HINT:
- The pulley bolt for the belt tensioner has a left-hand thread.
Remove the V belt.
9. DISCONNECT POWER STEERING OIL PRESSURE SWITCH CONNECTOR |
Disconnect the 2 connectors.
10. DISCONNECT NO. 1 OIL RESERVOIR TO PUMP HOSE |
Slide the clip and disconnect the oil reservoir to pump hose from the vane pump.
11. DISCONNECT PRESSURE FEED TUBE |
Remove the union bolt and disconnect the pressure feed tube.
Remove the gasket.
12. REMOVE VANE PUMP ASSEMBLY |
Remove the bolt and harness bracket.
Remove the 2 bolts and vane pump.
