  1. Using a vernier caliper, measure the free length of the compression spring.

    Minimum free length:
    41.5 mm (1.63 in.)
    If the length is less than the minimum, replace the compression spring.

    NOTICE:
    1. Be sure to install the gasket so that it faces the correct direction.
    2. Do not reuse the gasket.
    3. Do not damage the gasket.
    4. When connecting the front exhaust pipe assembly, do not push in the gasket with the front exhaust pipe assembly.
  1. Connect the front exhaust pipe assembly to the exhaust pipe support.

  1. Install the front exhaust pipe assembly to the exhaust manifold with the 2 compression springs and 2 bolts. Alternately tighten the bolts in several passes.

    Torque:
    43 N*m{438 kgf*cm, 32 ft.*lbf}

2. INSTALL HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR

    HINT:
    1. Make sure SST and the wrench are connected in a straight line.
    2. Calculate the torque wrench reading when changing the fulcrum length of the torque wrench (LandCruiser RM000003YMD00TX.html).
    3. When using SST (fulcrum length of 30 mm (1.18 in.)) + torque wrench (fulcrum length of 180 mm (7.09 in.)): 38 N*m (384 kgf*cm, 28 ft.*lbf)
  1. Attach the wire harness clamp.

  1. Connect the heated oxygen sensor connector.

3. INSTALL AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR
HINT:
Perform "Inspection After Repairs" after replacing the air fuel ratio sensor (LandCruiser RM000004NJC03XX.html).

4. INSTALL CENTER EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY
  1. Install a new gasket.

  1. Connect the center exhaust pipe assembly to the 2 exhaust pipe supports.

  1. Install the center exhaust pipe assembly to the front exhaust pipe assembly with the 2 bolts. Alternately tighten the bolts in several passes.

    Torque:
    48 N*m{489 kgf*cm, 35 ft.*lbf}

5. INSTALL TAILPIPE ASSEMBLY
  1. Install a new gasket.

  1. Connect the tailpipe assembly to the exhaust pipe support.

  1. Install the tailpipe assembly to the center exhaust pipe assembly with the 2 bolts. Alternately tighten the bolts in several passes.

    Torque:
    48 N*m{489 kgf*cm, 35 ft.*lbf}

6. CHECK FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAK
If gas is leaking, tighten the areas necessary to stop the leak. Replace damaged parts as necessary.
HINT:
If an exhaust gas leak has been repaired, perform an inspection following the repair (LandCruiser RM000004NJC03XX.html).
