DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT
REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
REMOVE NO. 1 FUEL PIPE
REMOVE VENTILATION PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY
DISCONNECT NO. 4 WATER BY-PASS HOSE
DISCONNECT NO. 5 WATER BY-PASS HOSE
REMOVE NO. 1 INJECTOR HOLDER
REMOVE NO. 2 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR
REMOVE INJECTOR HOLDER
REMOVE NO. 2 NOZZLE HOLDER CLAMP
REMOVE EXHAUST FUEL ADDITION INJECTOR ASSEMBLY
Exhaust Fuel Addition Injector -- Removal |
- CAUTION:
- Do not remove the radiator reservoir cap sub-assembly, vent plug, radiator drain cock plug while the engine and radiator assembly are still hot. Pressurized, hot engine coolant and steam may be released and cause serious burns.
Connect a vinyl tube with an inside diameter of 9 mm (0.354 in.) to the radiator drain cock as shown in the illustration.
Loosen the radiator drain cock plug.

Remove the radiator reservoir cap sub-assembly.
Using a wrench, remove the vent plug and drain the engine coolant from the radiator assembly.
- HINT:
- Collect the engine coolant in a container and dispose of it according to the local regulations.
Loosen the cylinder block water drain cock plug and drain the engine coolant from the engine.
Tighten the cylinder block water drain cock plug.
- Torque:
- 13 N*m{130 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf}
Tighten the radiator drain cock plug by hand.
Remove the vinyl tube from the radiator drain cock.
2. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY |
Detach the 2 front clips of the No. 1 engine cover sub-assembly.
While pulling the No. 1 engine cover sub-assembly towards the front, detach the 2 rear pins, and then remove the No. 1 engine cover sub-assembly.
3. REMOVE NO. 1 FUEL PIPE |
Remove the bolt, union bolt and gasket and disconnect the No. 1 fuel pipe from the cylinder head cover sub-assembly and exhaust fuel addition injector assembly.
Disconnect the No. 4 fuel pipe and remove the No. 1 fuel pipe (LandCruiser RM0000028RU05SX.html).
4. REMOVE VENTILATION PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY |
Slide the 2 clips and disconnect the No. 20 water by-pass hose from the compressor inlet elbow and No. 3 water by-pass pipe.
Slide the clip and disconnect the No. 19 water bypass hose from the compressor inlet elbow.
Remove the bolt and disconnect the PCV pipe from the compression inlet elbow.
Slide the 2 clips and remove the PCV pipe.
5. DISCONNECT NO. 4 WATER BY-PASS HOSE |
Slide the clamp and disconnect the No. 4 water bypass hose from the No. 1 injector holder.
6. DISCONNECT NO. 5 WATER BY-PASS HOSE |
Slide the clamp and disconnect the No. 5 water by-pass hose from the No. 1 injector holder.
7. REMOVE NO. 1 INJECTOR HOLDER |
Remove the connector from the exhaust fuel addition injector assembly.
Remove the 3 nuts and No. 1 injector holder from the exhaust manifold.
8. REMOVE NO. 2 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR |
Remove the 3 nuts and No. 2 exhaust manifold heat insulator from the No. 1 injector holder.
Remove the gasket.
9. REMOVE INJECTOR HOLDER |
Remove the 2 bolts and injector holder from the No. 1 injector holder.
10. REMOVE NO. 2 NOZZLE HOLDER CLAMP |
Using a T40 "TORX" socket wrench, remove the bolt and No. 2 nozzle holder clamp from the No. 1 injector holder.
11. REMOVE EXHAUST FUEL ADDITION INJECTOR ASSEMBLY |
Remove the exhaust fuel addition injector assembly from the No. 1 injector holder.
Remove the gasket from the No. 1 injector holder.
Remove the E-ring from the exhaust fuel addition injector assembly.
Remove the No. 3 fuel injector back-up ring, O-ring, No. 2 fuel injector back-up ring and No. 1 fuel injector back-up ring from the exhaust fuel addition injector assembly.
