Cylinder Head Disassembly


  1. REMOVE INTAKE VALVE

  2. REMOVE EXHAUST VALVE

  3. REMOVE VALVE STEM OIL SEAL

  4. REMOVE VALVE SPRING SEAT

  5. REMOVE NO. 1 HEAD STRAIGHT SCREW PLUG

  6. REMOVE NO. 2 HEAD STRAIGHT SCREW PLUG

  7. REMOVE STUD BOLT

Cylinder Head -- Disassembly



1. REMOVE INTAKE VALVE

  1. Using SST and wooden blocks, compress the inner compression spring and remove the valve spring retainer locks.

  1. Remove the retainer, inner compression spring and valve.

    HINT:
    Arrange the removed parts in the correct order.


2. REMOVE EXHAUST VALVE

  1. Using SST and wooden blocks, compress the inner compression spring and remove the valve spring retainer locks.

  1. Remove the retainer, inner compression spring and valve.

    HINT:
    Arrange the removed parts in the correct order.


3. REMOVE VALVE STEM OIL SEAL

  1. Using needle-nose pliers, remove the 16 oil seals.



4. REMOVE VALVE SPRING SEAT

  1. Remove the 16 valve spring seats from the cylinder head.



5. REMOVE NO. 1 HEAD STRAIGHT SCREW PLUG

NOTICE:
Land Cruiser, Land Cruiser Prado. Grj150 Trj150,155 Kdj150,155 Lj150, Gdj150,155
If coolant leaks from the No. 1 head straight screw plug or the plug is corroded, replace it.

  1. Using a 10 mm hexagon wrench, remove the 3 screw plugs and 3 gaskets.



6. REMOVE NO. 2 HEAD STRAIGHT SCREW PLUG

NOTICE:

If coolant leaks from the No. 2 head straight screw plug or the plug is corroded, replace it.

  1. Using a 19 mm hexagon wrench, remove the screw plug and gasket.



7. REMOVE STUD BOLT
NOTICE:
If a stud bolt is deformed or its threads are damaged, replace it.
