Crankshaft Position Sensor Removal


  1. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transmission)

  2. REMOVE MANUAL TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transmission)

  3. REMOVE CLUTCH COVER ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transmission)

  4. REMOVE CLUTCH DISC ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transmission)

  5. REMOVE FLYWHEEL SUB-ASSEMBLY

  6. REMOVE REAR END PLATE

  7. REMOVE NO. 5 CYLINDER BLOCK INSULATOR

  8. REMOVE NO. 1 CYLINDER BLOCK INSULATOR

  9. DISCONNECT VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE SUB-ASSEMBLY

  10. REMOVE CONNECTING WIRE

  11. REMOVE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR HARNESS BRACKET

  12. REMOVE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR

Crankshaft Position Sensor -- Removal



1. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transmission)

3. REMOVE CLUTCH COVER ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transmission)

  1. Place matchmarks on the clutch cover and flywheel.

  1. Loosen each set bolt one turn at a time until spring tension is released.

  1. Remove the 6 set bolts and pull off the clutch cover.

    NOTICE:
    Do not drop the clutch disc.


4. REMOVE CLUTCH DISC ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transmission)
NOTICE:
Keep the lining part of the clutch disc, the pressure plate and the surface of the flywheel away from oil and foreign matter.


5. REMOVE FLYWHEEL SUB-ASSEMBLY

  1. w/ Viscous Heater:
    Remove the 4 bolts, viscous heater crankshaft pulley and crankshaft pulley cover from the crankshaft pulley.

  1. w/o Viscous Heater:
    Remove the 4 bolts and crankshaft pulley cover from the crankshaft pulley.

  1. Using SST, hold the crankshaft pulley.

  1. for Manual Transmission:
    Remove the 8 bolts and flywheel sub-assembly from the crankshaft.

  1. for Automatic Transmission:
    Remove the 8 bolts, rear drive plate spacer, pump impeller drive plate and flywheel sub-assembly from the crankshaft.



6. REMOVE REAR END PLATE

  1. Remove the bolt and rear end plate from the cylinder block sub-assembly.



7. REMOVE NO. 5 CYLINDER BLOCK INSULATOR

  1. Remove the No. 5 cylinder block insulator from the cylinder block sub-assembly.



8. REMOVE NO. 1 CYLINDER BLOCK INSULATOR

  1. Remove the No. 1 cylinder block insulator from the cylinder block sub-assembly.



9. DISCONNECT VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE SUB-ASSEMBLY

  1. Remove the bolt and nut, and disconnect the vacuum switching valve sub-assembly.



10. REMOVE CONNECTING WIRE

  1. Disconnect the 2 connectors and clamp, and remove the connecting wire.



11. REMOVE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR HARNESS BRACKET

  1. Remove the bolt and crankshaft position sensor harness bracket from the cylinder block sub-assembly.



12. REMOVE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR

  1. Remove the bolt and crankshaft position sensor from the rear oil seal retainer.
